China is an appetizing growth market for Western companies in the internationalisation phase. One fact: by 2030, it is estimated that 35% of the Chinese population will belong to the upper-middle class (see the report Chinese Consumer in 2030if your company has decided to look East, don’t forget that the Chinese change their year on 25 January: the Year of the Rat will begin, a period which, according to the horoscope, is very favourable for doing business.

From 2021, the sale of single-use plates, cups and cutlery will be banned, and there will be no place in the EU for harmful plastic straws, which are lethal to marine wildlife. So on 3 February, as well as remembering Saint Blaise, we celebrate International No Straw Day. If your company is in the food or catering business, it’s time to invite your audience to try alternatives such as reusable straws… or to drink directly from a glass.
