1min read 08/01/2015

The wrappings for Epiphany presents and the boxes for the roscones have become very popular these days in homes and businesses, and Christmas is one of the dates when we accumulate the most paper and cardboard of the whole year. Fortunately, in Spain we are quite aware of the importance of recycling and the figures estimate that approximately 75% of paper and cardboard is taken to the blue bin for recycling.

What are the advantages of recycling paper?

  • We reduce the consumption of wood, water and energy to make paper.
  • We reduce waste, thus extending the life of landfills.
  • We reduce water and air pollution by not having to manufacture pulp.
  • We reduce the felling of forests.
  • Less wood or waste paper is imported.

apart from taking used paper and cardboard to the bin, what else can we do?

  • Reuse, many boxes or papers can have a second life in the office.
  • Avoid using unnecessary paper or cardboard, for example by using double-sided paper.
  • Avoid printing documents that are easy to consult on the computer.
  • Paper bags and cardboard boxes can be used as containers to store used paper until it is taken for recycling.
  • Choose the least polluting version of the paper and boxes you buy, there is an increasing supply of recycled paper whose quality and price is not inferior to normal paper.
