How cardboard recycling works

Por cada tonelada de cartón que se recicla se ahorran 140 litros de petróleo, cincuenta mil litros de agua y 900 kilos de dióxido de carbono (CO2), el principal causante del cambio climático, frente a lo que requiere fabricar una tonelada de cartón nuevo. El reciclaje de cartón y el papel aporta grandes beneficios para el medio ambiente y ocupan un papel importante en el embalaje de envíos, por encima de los plásticos, la madera y el metal.

Debido a su precio económico, versatilidad y firmeza, las cajas de cartón son uno de los formatos más demandado para realizar envíos, y uno de los productos más reclamado por los clientes de Rajapack con más de 800 modelos disponibles. Todos nuestros modelos convencionales de cajas de cartón ondulado están identificados con el código RESY, que indica que el material es compatible con el medioambiente y apto para su reutilización.

It all begins when citizens deposit the waste in the containers, these are transported to the recycling plant where, after several specific processes, they obtain a new life.

How is the industrial process of cardboard recycling?

With this procedure new paper is obtained from the waste from paper manufacturing, pre-consumer paper and other paper products, which is used to recycle cardboard

• Short cellulose, used for newsprint, although with a lower percentage of reuse than the following.
• Long cellulose, used for cardboard or office paper, among other materials.

in Spain we collect and recycle 71% of the paper and cardboard we consume, which places the Spanish paper industry as the second most efficient in Europe. In 2016 more than 5 million tonnes of these elements were recycled according to the Spanish Association of Pulp, Paper and Cardboard Manufacturers(ASPAPEL). Packaging products made from recycled material

On average, it is estimated that recycling one tonne of cardboard saves around 17 trees from being cut down and saves more than 4,000 hours of electricity.
