When to use event packaging?

By ‘events’ we mean both physical events and meetings as well as special occasions. These are opportunities to surprise your customers with distinctive packaging:

  • Events based on calendar dates. Such as Black Friday, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day or sales.
  • Global events. Such as the Olympic Games or the Football World Cup.
  • Professional events. Such as trade fairs, markets or meetings in which your brand participates.
  • Events specific to your brand. Like an anniversary, a product launch or a specific marketing campaign.

Types of event packaging

As not all events are the same, the type of packaging to be used will also vary. Some of the most common types are as follows:

  • Customised packaging. The aesthetic aspect is very important and by personalising the packaging you can make your brand stand out. Include your logo and slogan and use corporate colours to transmit your values. You can also adapt the packaging to suit your needs.
  • Food packaging. The presentation and quality of packaging for food products is a very serious matter. Also, at an event, products for serving take-away food are very useful.
  • Reusable packaging. Some items can have more than one use, but this does not mean that they only retain their original function, but can also serve as decorative or even collector’s items.
  • Vintage-style packaging. Retro aesthetics and the use of traditional materials can be key for events that aim to evoke times gone by or simulate a journey through time.
  • Interconnected packaging. You can merge the physical with the digital by incorporating a QR code on your packaging that leads to your website or other brand-related content to enhance your customers’ experience.

Tips for preparing your event packaging

Before facing any type of event, you should not lose sight of this series of recommendations to succeed among your clientele:

  • Highlight your brand image. Transmitting your values and your company’s philosophy through your corporate image is the best way to differentiate yourself from your competitors.
  • Know your public. Studying the packaging preferences of consumers will allow you to know what their expectations are and create a personalised experience. Achieve a wow effect through unboxing will surprise your audience in a unique way.
  • Take advantage of storytelling. The art of storytelling is a resource with which you can play with consumers’ emotions, enhance your message and attract new customers.

  • Ensure product protection. Don’t forget that the main function of packaging is to protect the contents, regardless of the type of packaging: primary, secondary or tertiary. To do this, avoid empty spaces inside the packages, use isothermal packaging when the products require it or choose a suitable strap that provides support. The ultimate aim is to ensure the safe transport and transfer of the products so that they are received in optimum conditions.
