Cash Converters: coping with volumetric dynamism [RAJA® Customers].

In our customer testimonials section, we introduce you to Cash Converters: the world’s leading company in the second-hand market. Founded in 1984, it is of Australian origin and was established in Spain in 1995 with a pilot shop in Barcelona. It currently has 76 shops in Spain and 6 in Portugal. In addition, Cash Converters sells online through its website and has approximately 200,000 orders per year.

Francisco Javier Padilla, Area Manager Retail Online in Spain and Portugal, invited us to visit one of their most emblematic shops located in Malaga, and explained how, thanks to the synergies with the RAJA® sales team, they have solved several logistical challenges they were facing. what challenges did Cash Converters face and how did RAJA® help you?

Cash Converters faced several challenges from a logistical point of view:

Challenge #1: Solving volumetric dynamism

The products that Cash Converters sells are second hand products brought in by the customers themselves. In most cases these products lack original packaging. From an off-line point of view, in our physical shops, this creates less complexities, but in online sales it is a big challenge.

At Cash Converters we need to ensure customers that the product they have purchased arrives safely but we also need to come up with a packaging solution that is as standard, replicable and cost effective as possible.

Thisis where RAJA® has been a necessary partner and where we have learned from each other, looking at different packaging possibilities to create a packaging catalogue to suit our wide range of products.

Challenge #2: Multi-distribution to shops

Cash Converters has 82 shops in Spain and Portugal, which creates complexities from a distribution point of view, and our shops have limited storage space.

Thanks to the multi-store distribution service offered by RAJA®, we plan deliveries for each Cash Converters shop according to their needs, helping to improve the profitability of online shop order picking and providing more functional spaces.

Challenge #3: Safety, Security and Sustainability

The diversity of products implies the need for a wide variety of packaging formats and sometimes very specific packaging such as those used for technological products that require additional protection. In this sense, RAJA® has developed packaging with retention systems for mobile phones, tablets or consoles.

In Cash Converters’ quest to use more sustainable packaging, we have decided to replace plastic or rubber based seals with a gummed paper tape which, as well as being a more environmentally friendly option, offers a tamper evident seal to prevent any opening.

what do you value most about your relationship with RAJA®?

At Cash Converters we were looking for a supplier that not only offered service, quality and price, but also something more. During the relationship with RAJA® solutions and alternatives have been proposed that have meant great advances internally, achieving a more functional packaging.

RAJA® visited the Cash Converters shops to better understand how they work and to be able to better adapt their solutions to our own problems.

In this sense, RAJA® developed for us in 2019 a training project for the employees of our shops. 4 face-to-face training sessions were held in Madrid, Barcelona, Marbella and Lisbon (Portugal). In these sessions, the new packaging formats were presented, practical advice was given on their use and day-to-day doubts about packaging were solved for supervisors and e-commerce managers.

At Cash Converters we continue to grow and RAJA® gives us the confidence to face all the challenges we face.
