Bring packaging material to life at Carnival

El

material de embalaje debe tener por lo menos siete vidas. La mayoría de cajas de cartón, plástico de burbujas, papel kraft, bolsas… vive experiencias viajeras, pero acaban siendo algo monótonas: transportar y proteger envíos de productos. Sin embargo, ¿por qué no darles una vida artística más allá de su cometido inicial? Carnaval es una época dorada para reutilizar esas cajas y esos otros materiales que quedan olvidados y convertirlos en disfraces originales de bajo coste.

Desde los inicios, en Rajapack hemos querido darles una vida alternativa a nuestros productos y reducir su impacto medioambiental. Por eso, y porque sabemos que a veces vamos cortos de tiempo y de presupuesto en Carnavales, hemos recopilado sencillas ideas para elaborar disfraces tanto para pequeños como para mayores.

1. Cajas de cartón o ¿ventanas a otros mundos?

Or, even easier still, we can define a teardrop silhouette on a sheet of bubble wrap, not forgetting an opening for the head, and transform ourselves into a real water droplet.

3. The twisted art of kraft paper

Kraft paper, used in bags but also as a packaging material, is a great way to make a costume for Carnival if we find it crumpled, no problem, as it can be twisted and glued to form the shell of a snail. The costume can be completed with a pair of antennae as a headband, as the Oh Happy Day website did at the time. On the other hand, to transport us to Hawaii we only need to cut strips from a sheet of kraft paper and we have the perfect Hawaiian skirt for dancing the Hula. And when the Carnival parties are over, don’t forget to leave the costume in the recycling bins. Who knows what other lives, bohemian or not, await this packaging material!
