[SK] Ease the handling of heavy and bulky goods with pallet systems

2min read 18/04/2023

Palletizing is one of the most widely used handling methods. It greatly simplifies the whole process of storage and transportation of all kinds of goods. Get to know all its advantages and benefits.

Find out what types of pallets and accessories you can use for your business to save human resources, time, space and money.

What is palletisation

Palletizing is a system that allows material to be handled in larger compact units/volumes. Its basic unit is the pallet, which can be efficiently handled and transported with varying degrees of mechanization.

It is adapted to be easily handled – with the goods loaded on it – by pallet or lift truck forks, stacking equipment or a fully automated robotic unit.

The 8 main advantages of palletising

  1. Enables comprehensive mechanisation and automation of loading, transport and storage operations.
  2. Reduces the laboriousness of handling goods.
  3. Increases better utilisation of storage and transport space.
  4. It speeds up and streamlines loading operations (loading, unloading).
  5. Reduces demands on human resources, increases worker efficiency and safety.
  6. Increases production capacity and goods turnover.
  7. Reduces packaging material costs.
  8. Palletizing systems and lines contribute to the development of the industry.

Types of pallets

Pallets are distinguished according to their construction – single, fence and boxpallets. Further, according to the material from which they are made – into wooden and plastic. The load capacity of a pallet depends on its construction and, above all, on its dimensions.

RAJA offers different sizes and types of pallets, classic plastic pallets as well as extremely light INKA moulded pallets (weight from 3 kg), which are made from recycled wood offcuts. In addition to standard sizes from 400×600 mm to 600×800 mm to 800×1200 mm, we also offer sea pallets 1140×1140 mm for bulky shipments.

Accessories

Other accessories are an integral part of palletisation, which increase the safety of packaging and fixing goods and minimise the risk of damage during transport. It also eliminates injury to workers or damage to storage areas, handling equipment or vehicles.

  • Proven packaging and fixing materials are adhesive tapes and stretch films. These are available both manual and machine made, clear and in a variety of colours.
  • For fast load securing, tie-down tapes are used and are available in many variants: textile, polyester, polypropylene.
  • Use foam or cardboard overlays of various thicknesses to separate items on pallets or to stabilise goods. To protect corners and edges, use plastic or cardboard edges of different shapes and sizes.
