Could you please introduce us to Sativa Rheinau?

Sativa Rheinau is an organic seed production company offering more than 600 varieties of vegetables, herbs, flowers, green manure and other products for commercial cultivation and home gardens. Another key focus is our plant breeding business. We develop new varieties that are specially adapted to organic growing conditions.
We are committed to an independent and non-GMO seed supply for organic farming. This is particularly important in view of current topics such as the possible approval of new genetic techniques.
Our seeds come from around 120 small and medium-sized organic farms in Switzerland and surrounding countries. We supply customers in Switzerland and throughout the EU. Sativa was founded in 1998.

Since when have you been working with RAJA and what packaging solutions does Sativa use?

We mainly source packaging materials for our products. I did the math and found out that we order ten different types of shipping boxes from RAJA. We also buy additional products such as adhesive tape, document packaging and stretch film for pallets. The cooperation started in November 2009 when we ordered boxes and shipping trolleys.

Did you have any specific shipping requirements?

The key for us is to provide exceptional protection for our goods.

Have you made a conscious decision to use sustainable packaging?

Because we sell sustainable products, we are committed to sustainability in all aspects. Primarily, the product must be fit for purpose. However, if there is a more sustainable alternative that performs the function just as well, we always opt for it. For example, we successfully tested a stretch film made from 80% recycled material and decided to go for it.

How many parcels do you ship per year?

We ship approximately 30,000 parcels a year.

Why did you choose RAJA?

When I started, the cooperation already existed. We considered other options, but RAJA convinced us the most with its total service package. We really appreciate the short delivery times. The wide range of products is also very valuable. When we need something new, we always find a solution with you. And the customer support is also very good.
This year, for the first time, we sent seedlings by post. We needed a box to ensure that the seedlings arrive to our customers undamaged. Together with RAJA we developed such a box and we have received very positive feedback from our customers. Such experiences are very valuable for us.
