Rajapack supports the Blue Button Week collection

1min read 12/04/2017

Rajapack has become a partner of the global campaign organized by UNICEF Slovakia every May. The Blue Button Week will take place from 15th to 21st May 2017.

All proceeds from the collection will be donated to children in Ukraine. The situation in Ukraine remains precarious after four years, despite peace agreements. Turmoil and fighting are once again emerging. Children are losing not only their homes, but also their ability to go to school, because the shelling of schools is no exception. More than 740 schools have been damaged or destroyed.

The situation is serious for around 200 000 children living within 15 kilometres of the contact line in eastern Ukraine. In this zone, 19 thousand children are threatened by landmines and unexploded ordnance, and 12 thousand children are threatened at least once a month by artillery fire.

Educators, psychologists and parents confirm signs of severe psychosocial distress in children. Children suffer from nightmares, show aggression and withdraw into seclusion. Loud noises cause them to panic.

How will the collection take place?

Schools – kindergarten, primary, secondary and higher education – can register for the collection. This registration is important to make the collection as transparent as possible. Only registered schools will be sent all the necessary materials for the collection.

To register, visit www.unicef.sk/tmg-registracia.

New this year is the ability to start a fundraiser online through www.nadej.unicef.sk/tmg2017. The school sets up a profile and can share it with partners, students, friends and reach a wider audience.

Only duly registered schools and their designated representatives will be able to collect donations, which will then be sent to Ukraine by UNICEF.
