RAJA Group donates €200,000 to two humanitarian organisations, Doctors Without Borders and the French Red Cross, to meet the urgent needs of the war-affected population in Ukraine. The RAJA Danièle-Marcovici Foundation donated EUR 50 000 in emergency aid to the Polish Centre for Women’s Rights, which assists Ukrainian refugee women.
“I am deeply saddened by this serious humanitarian crisis that is causing so much suffering to the Ukrainian people. Many women, men and children urgently need help. That is why we support the two main humanitarian organisations that are helping people in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries that are hosting refugees,” says Danièle Kapel-Marcovici, President and CEO of RAJA Group.
RAJA Group is present in the countries neighbouring Ukraine – Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia, as well as in the Czech Republic. The group’s branches in European countries, together with local NGOs, take action to support refugees by donating clothes, food, money, toys and packaging to associations that provide Ukraine with medical supplies, daily necessities, food, etc.
In Poland, the RAJA-Danièle Marcovici Foundation, which supports activities for women and girls, has provided EUR 50 000 in emergency aid to the Polish Centre for Women’s Rights, which receives refugees from Ukraine.
The current situation on the border between Ukraine and Romania has prompted many employees of Viking (a company acquired by RAJA Group in 2021), based in the Romanian city of Cluj, to immediately get involved in helping refugees arriving in the country. In cooperation with local NGOs, they are providing transport, accommodation and basic supplies to the refugees.
“I am thinking of all the Ukrainian women and their children who have decided to emigrate. I think of the Ukrainian men who were mobilized and could not accompany them. I am touched by the spirit of solidarity shown by our teams and I firmly hope that this war will end quickly.” says Danièle Kapel-Marcovici.
TheInternational Red Cross and Red CrescentMovement is engaged in the region to help people affected by the conflict in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. Doctors Without Borders’ emergency fund enables its teams to respond quickly to humanitarian crises such as the one currently unfolding in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. They are present in Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Belarus and Russia to determine how best to support the reception of refugees most in need. The organisation also carries out emergency interventions in Ukraine, including providing support to hospitals.
