BLACK FRIDAY shopping fever

2min read 27/11/2019

Here we go… Black Friday! And this Friday! But what does it actually mean and where did it come from?

Black Friday is a marketing event taken from the USA. It is considered to be the start of the pre-Christmas shopping season and it can be said that for many shoppers it is a real discount holiday.

In recent years, Black Friday not only refers to the last Friday in November, but some e-shops and brick-and-mortar stores also have Black Friday for the whole month of November!

Black Friday in numbers

A survey conducted by Black-Friday.Global in 2018 showed that up to 94% of Slovaks surveyed know what Black Friday is. The increase in sales during Black Friday is up to 666% compared to a normal day. The average Slovak plans to spend €203 on Black Friday. The average discount in Slovak e-shops is around 53%.

Do Slovaks shop more from the comfort of their homes or in shopping malls?

The majority of consumers will shop in both online stores and brick-and-mortar stores (63%), the rest will either shop only in brick-and-mortar stores (16%) or only in online stores (21%).

But beware when shopping. Some can trick you! Look a few days in advance at the goods you plan to buy and see if the price changes significantly or not. You can also make use of various comparison shopping sites.

But what about a novelty like Cyber Monday?

Translated in English as Cyber Monday. Cyber Monday was created by marketing companies in order to increase sales through e-shops. We could see this holiday about 2 years ago. This year, you will surely see Cyber Monday already at more e-shops.

We at RAJA are wasting no time and are ready for the shopping rush! Don’t forget to subscribe to our newsletter too, where you will learn everything in time!
