[PT] Send a book and have it delivered in perfect condition

5min read 19/02/2025

Do you need to send a book and want to make sure it arrives in optimal condition? Then this article is for you! Firstly, in the world of books, it’s common to find two types of readers: the classics and those who have fully embraced new technologies. The former like to appreciate the traditional paper book: the texture and smell of a new book make them fall in love. On the other hand, there are those who love technology: they are practical, always up to date and are fans of electronic books. In other words, they are also called eBooks.

At first glance, with the growth of e-commerce, the publishing world is facing a problem. For retailers in this sector, the way in which books are sent is a major concern. It is therefore necessary to ensure that they are properly protected. However, the main thing is to accept that not everything goes. For example, that a recycled box may not be the best image you can give your customers, that a large format book cannot be sent in an unprotected envelope, or that receiving personalised packaging helps build customer loyalty.

1. How do I pack a book?

At RAJA we have specialised packaging that adequately protects your books, tablets and more. We’re talking about cardboard boxes or cases that are specially designed to protect books from impacts, especially the most vulnerable parts, such as the corners.

► Pack a book safely

Postal boxes are your ideal solution for sending books safely. There are various models that protect both traditional and electronic books:

Book protection:

You can use either a case specially designed for books or an extra-flat box, as both correctly protect books from shocks. While cases have side edges, flat boxes have reinforced sides.

The cases for sending books can be adjusted to the required height, depending on the number or thickness of the books. In this sense, this is also a cost-saving advantage, as the same packaging can be used for different shipments of different sizes.

The extra-flat boxeson the other hand, have two heights, giving you the option of choosing the one that best suits the books you want to send. Their design is impeccable and they are also available in white.

Both the cases and the extra-flat boxes take up little space as they are delivered flat and are very easy to assemble.

Protection for electronic products:

For readers who prefer to read on tablets, smartphones and eBooks, there are specific products: boxes and cases with protection. These products are specially designed to immobilise and protect electronic products.

The foam-filled case is ideal for very fragile products and guarantees total security.

The case and retaining box are protected with a 60 micron antistatic film that immobilises the product. They also guarantee perfect presentation.

Package a book economically

The rigid cardboard envelopes are ideal for thin books, as they are robust and protect against shocks, as well as preventing bending.

On the other hand padded envelopes with air bubbles are an interesting option for small, slightly thick books. However, they are not recommended for hardcover books, as they can damage the envelope and make it difficult to send.

Storing books or sending large quantities of books

The boxes for books or documents are sturdy and secure, thanks to their wide range of sizes. They can therefore guarantee tailor-made delivery regardless of the size you need (A3, A4, A5, A6 and A7). However, for a practical solution that takes up little space, variable height boxes are the best solution. This type of box is adapted to the height of the products inside and thus prevents its contents from shifting during transport.

Packaging for flat products

If you need to send products in rolls, the cardboard are the best solution. They are strong, stable and easy to store. It’s the perfect packaging for sheets, photos, posters and more.

2. How do I seal the packaging effectively?

Some of these packages need to be sealed with adhesive tape. For example: the retaining box or the variable height and instant assembly box. Choose your adhesive tape so that it is right for your packaging. We recommend:

  • A 28 micron PVC or polypropylene tape.
  • If you want a more environmentally friendly option, at RAJA we offer gummed paper tape which is made from 100% natural kraft. Its elasticated band is tamper-evident and resistant.
  • Another option for sealing your packages is strapping tape.

Properly labelling your shipment can also be an asset, as you reduce the chances of your package getting lost or being handled less carefully.

3. How do I send a book by post?

You won’t have any problems with boxes and cases, as they are suitable for sending by post. You should still make sure that the box or tube has these measurements:

  • Length + width + height = 210 cm maximum
  • Maximum length = 120 cm
  • Maximum weight = 30kg

The shipping price will be indicated by CTT, as it varies according to the size and weight of the package.

4. Personalise it!

A good way to surprise with your gift is to personalise it. You could personalise it by using phrases, words or your own brand.

Finally, using quality packaging is essential. Choosing poor quality protection or packaging, or packaging that is not suitable for the product or transport, can affect the product and cause damage, with the consequent increased cost of reimbursement or return.
