5min read 07/11/2022

Kraft paper is an ecological and economical packaging solution, which offers several uses and advantages. It is therefore easy to recycle, comes from sustainable resources, is easy to use and reduces your company’s carbon footprint. In short, it will help your customers understand your company’s values, together with a unique unboxing experience.

So why choose plastic materials to protect your products when there is a 100% recyclable and greener option? Undeniably, companies are starting to bet on more Eco-Responsible alternatives, eliminating the use of plastic. In this sense, kraft paper is also less damaging, quick to use and helps you save space in your warehouse, as it takes up much less room than any other air-filled packaging.

What uses does kraft paper have?

Surely one of the most important features of kraft paper is its versatility, and it can be used as filler, cushioning or to wrap your products.

Filling

Protect your products inside the boxes by filling the empty spaces. This way, they won’t get damaged or move during transport.

Cushioning

So too as kraft paper crinkles and the air that sits between its layers creates an excellent cushioning effect.

Wrapping

As well as also offering protection against the minor incidents that may occur during its handling. Undeniably, kraft paper also offers a natural appearance being quite aesthetic.

Why should you use kraft paper as protection in packaging?

Kraft paper is therefore 100% renewable, recyclable and biodegradable. In addition, it takes up little space and is economical.

  • It comes from renewable materials

Paper comes from a 100% renewable material: wood. Contrary to popular belief, paper does not destroy forests because the paper industry only uses wood-based products, such as waste wood, or uses sustainably managed forest trees.

We explain how a sustainable forest works: when a tree is felled, the trunk is used to generate wood and the branches that are cut down to keep the trees healthy and the sawmill waste is used to make paper. If, eventually, you want to know if your paper or cardboard comes from a sustainable forest, see if it has the PEFC or FSC labels.

  • It is recyclable

So did you know that over 50% of the paper that is manufactured in Europe is made from recycled materials? Several reports prove that the percentage of European plastic that goes for recycling is much lower compared to paper. So the trend is that more and more consumers are choosing paper packaging over other materials and that recycling plays an important role in the sustainability of the paper cycle.

  • Biodegradable

At the same time, paper decomposes quickly, leaving no trace of toxic materials such as plastic.

  • Occupies little space

Paper is simply a sheet of paper that, to be placed as protection for a package, simply needs to be wrinkled. Above all, it can store much more in less space.
