What are anti-static bubble bags used for?

Electronic equipment manufacturers and electronics shop owners should definitely stock their warehouses with ESD bubble bags and pouches. They will keep goods safe during shipping and ensure they arrive in perfect condition.

ESD bags are the professional name for antistatic bubble bags. They are characterised by the specific properties of bubble bags and anti-static film.

Bubble bags

Bubble wrap is often used to protect fragile or easily damaged goods during shipping. Most shipments are wrapped in bubble foil or placed in a bag or bubble sack in addition to being packed in a carton or envelope. Bubble foil is also used to fill empty space in the packaging and is then used as a filler for parcels.

This film is made of polyethylene – it is flat on one side and covered with air-filled bubbles on the other. These bubbles have cushioning properties. The larger the bubbles, the greater the cushioning. Thus, they protect the goods against breakage, scratching and against shocks (mechanical damage). Bubble bags also protect goods against moisture and frost, as bubble foil also has insulating properties. It can also be used to protect sharp-edged items, as it is very strong and difficult to tear.

Bubble wrap and products made from it, such as sacks or bubble bags, are commonly used to ship a wide variety of goods. Its protective properties cannot be underestimated. Of course, there are alternative, more environmentally friendly products for securing shipments, made from natural raw materials, but bubble wrap is still unbeatable. As it is strong and can be used repeatedly it can also be considered environmentally friendly, albeit to a lesser extent. Many people and companies reuse bubble wrap.

ESD bags – what are they?

One type of bubble wrap is anti-static (otherwise known as adhesive wrap). It has an anti-static additive – dispersing and screening. It protects goods not only from damage, but also from electrostatic discharges, which can be very dangerous to electronics. It is therefore ideal for protecting electronic equipment. In addition, it protects against dust and dirt, equally undesirable in the case of such devices.

The antistatic film of which the ESD bags are made is pink in colour, to distinguish it from the standard white version without this protection. It adheres perfectly to the packaged items and is flexible and strong. It performs better than polystyrene or cardboard, which are rigid and therefore less protective. It prevents the build-up of static electricity on devices. Electronic equipment packed in an ESD bag will certainly not be damaged during transport.

The use of anti-static bags – what kind of business do you need them for?

ESD bags and antistatic film are used to protect electronic equipment and devices during transport, such as televisions, computers, audio equipment, components, electronic accessories, as well as CDs and DVDs. Electronic components are also shipped in them. They protect goods from discharges and electrical damage.

They are indispensable equipment at the packing station in the warehouse of any electronics retailer or manufacturer of such equipment.

It is worth noting that ESD bags are also very durable and resistant, provide cushioning and protection against mechanical damage, are convenient to use and inexpensive. In a situation where shipping costs need to be reduced, it is worth paying attention to them. They are inexpensive and, thanks to their use, there is no need for additional parcel protection, and because they are lightweight, the weight of the parcel does not increase after their use. What is more, they are reusable, which fits in perfectly with the trend of caring for the environment and using reusable eco-friendly packaging. They can also be used to store products that require protection during storage. In fact, they are versatile in their use due to the fact that they are strong and durable.

A wide range of bags and bubble bags, including ESD bags, can be found in the Rajapack shop.
