Using transport pal lets is one of the most common ways of packing, transporting and storing goods. This solution is popular mainly because of its convenience and low cost. Most users associate pallets mainly with flat platforms made of several boards and wooden blocks. However, it turns out that – above all – this is not the only type of pallet that can be found on the market, and that other solutions can have more advantages and be more practical in many situations. Here is a brief overview of the types of transport pallets available on the market.
Compressed wood pallets
Compressed wood is a raw material that is obtained – as the name suggests – by compressing solid wood with resin added under high pressure. The entire process takes place at elevated temperatures of up to 160 degrees Celsius. Compressed wood pallets are characterised by very high strength, i.e. loading capacity. This type of pal let can hold up to 900 kilograms in dynamic loading, and even more than 2,700 kilograms in static loading. At the same time, it is worth emphasising that the transport pallet itself is very light and comfortable. This is very important when shipping goods – usually the price of the service depends on the weight, and this also includes the weight of the pallet. Compressed wood pallets are specially shaped so that they can be lifted with a forklift truck. They are also easy to store, as they fit together when stacked. It is worth remembering that when purchasing compressed wood pallets, you can choose from different sizes – both standard and mini versions for transporting smaller goods or storing in smaller warehouses.
Plastic pallets made of plastic
The main advantage of plastic pallets is their resistance. They are harmed neither by atmospheric conditions – moisture or rain – nor by extreme temperatures. This is because this type of plastic pallet retains all its properties in the range from -20 to +60 degrees Celsius. It is also very important that plastic pallets can be washed under water without any fear, even with the use of various chemicals, which is not recommended when purchasing wooden pallets. As far as load-bearing properties are concerned, they are very strong – some models can easily cope with 1,000 kilograms of dynamic load and 2,000 kilograms of static load. Users who pay attention to ecological issues when purchasing pallets will appreciate the fact that the plastic from which the pallets are made is recycled. Finally, it is also worth mentioning that this type of pallet is very convenient, lightweight and therefore easy to store.
It is worth knowing the types of pallets before purchasing
Rajapack offers a wide selection and many types of transport pallets. It is worthwhile to become well acquainted with the different types of pallets, because as we have argued in this post – the differences are considerable. Thus, by purchasing the right pallets, you can further optimise the transport process and improve the safety of the goods being transported and stored. These are certainly goals that any shipping company or warehouse, regardless of industry, wants to achieve.
