Security envelopes – or what kind of envelopes?

3min read 30/03/2018

Ordinary envelopes provide ample access to the information inside without showing any outward signs of tampering. Fraud can take many different forms – whether it is the theft of identity, credit card numbers or bank account numbers or PINs. This can be avoided by using a simple, effective way to ensure the security of documents sent. The easiest and cheapest way to prevent mail fraud is to use security envelopes.

What are the characteristics of security envelopes?

Securityenvelopes are the type of packaging that cannot be opened without visibly damaging the security features. Once the envelope has been opened once, we have no way of closing it. However, this is not the only advantage of this type of envelope, as it contains space for writing the addressee and the declared contents.

What items are security envelopes used to transport?

Important documents and cash, as well as valuable jewellery, can also be confidently transported in security envelopes, also known as deposit envelopes. Any attempt to steal the contents will be immediately apparent to the recipient. By providing such envelopes, shopkeepers also make the courier’s task easier – the perforation allows the shipping slip to be torn off quickly. In addition, the security envelopes have space for the recipient’s signature. It is also important to be able to provide the customer with complete discretion regarding the contents of the parcel.

What can webshop owners use security envelopes for?

Security envelopes also offer discretion when it comes to the data left on the envelope. They are not exposed to the public. With secure envelopes, sensitive data such as date of birth, national insurance number information, bank account information or driving licence number can be masked from the eyes of unwanted people.

What is the difference between an ordinary envelope and a deposit envelope?

A deposit envelope differs from an ordinary envelope, such as a business envelope, by the design printed on the inside. This is usually a blue or black pattern which serves to cover the contents of the envelope. Most plain envelopes, when held up to the light at the right angle, can reveal their contents. This slight transparency creates an opportunity to tease out personal or confidential information. And – as we all know – opportunity makes the thief.

Confidential data can be found when sending discount codes, but also in financial documents such as PITs sent to contractors, bank statements, debit card PIN numbers, as well as in medical records or documents of a legal nature. In order to avoid this and ensure an adequate level of security for your customers, it is worth investing in a simple and effective security system.

Why invest in secure envelopes?

Companies and organisations are obliged to protect the personal data of their customers. Businesses that respect and value the privacy of the mail recipient will always use secure envelopes instead of regular envelopes. The secure envelope is an invaluable tool for any business. It shows the company’s commitment to protecting the data of its customers and business partners. Secure envelopes reduce the likelihood that businesses will be held liable if sensitive information is stolen.
