The RAJA Group will donate €200,000 to two humanitarian organisations, Médecins Sans Frontières i French Red Crossto meet the urgent needs of the war-affected population in Ukraine. The RAJA-Danièle-Marcovici Foundation has donated €50,000 in emergency aid to the Centre for Women’s Rights in Poland, which is working to help Ukrainian refugee women.
“I am deeply saddened by this serious humanitarian crisis that is causing so much suffering to the Ukrainian people. Many women, men and children are in urgent need of help. That is why we support the two main humanitarian organisations that help the people of Ukraine and the refugee-hosting neighbouring countries,” says Danièle Kapel-Marcovici, President and CEO of RAJA Group
The RAJA Group is present in Ukraine’s neighbouring countries – Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia, as well as the Czech Republic. The Group’s branches in European countries, together with local NGOs, take action to support refugees by donating clothes, food, money, toys and packaging to associations that provide medical supplies, necessities, food, etc. to Ukraine.
In Poland RAJA-Danièle Marcovici Foundation, which supports activities for women and girls, has provided ad hoc assistance of EUR 50 000 to the Polish Centre for Women’s Rights, which is preparing to receive refugee women from Ukraine.
The current situation on the border between Ukraine and Romania has prompted many employees of Vikinga (a company acquired by the RAJA Group in 2021), based in Cluj, Romania, to become immediately involved in helping refugees arriving in the country. Working with local NGOs, they are providing transport and accommodation as well as essential supplies for the refugees.
“I think of all the Ukrainian women and their children who have chosen to emigrate. I think of the Ukrainian men who were mobilised and could not accompany them. I am touched by the spirit of solidarity shown by our teams and I sincerely hope that this war will end quickly.” says Danièle Kapel-Marcovici.
International Red Cross Movement and the Red Crescent is committed in the region to helping people affected by the conflict in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. Médecins Sans Frontières ‘ emergency fund enables its teams to respond quickly to humanitarian emergencies such as the one currently taking place in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. They are present in Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Belarus and Russia to determine how best to support the reception of refugees most in need. The organisation also conducts emergency interventions in Ukraine, including providing support to hospitals.
