School parties and plays are extremely important events for many children and they look forward to them. Masked balls and carnival parties are the perfect opportunity to dress up – and as we all know, the basis of any costume is a mask. You can easily buy one in a shop, but a far better idea is to make one yourself. How do you make a mask out of cardboard for a school play? Here are some tips!

Which cardboard boxes for making masks work best?

Not sure what to do with cardboard boxes after moving house? Use them to make a mask for a school play! Traditional cardboard boxes will work perfectly for this. However, it is important to choose ones of the right thickness – cardboard that is too stiff can make it difficult to cut out the mask.

It is also important to make sure that the cardboard you choose is coated or painted, as you won’t be able to paint freely on laminated surfaces. However, if you only have such cardboard, no worries! You can sand them down with sandpaper.
