Overview of specialist packaging – anti-static, anti-corrosion, foil sleeves

Not all products can be stored or shipped in ordinary cardboard boxes wrapped tightly in stretch wrap – some need to be placed in specialised packaging that, for example, protects against moisture, corrosion or electrostatic effects. When and for which products is this necessary? What are the differences between the various packages?

Film sleeves: film sleeve for packaging essential for large products

For large-size products – or those with non-standard shapes – a long material with an appropriate width, such as a packaging film sleeve, is best. This is all because film sleeves will be used to create bags of the required dimensions, into which the product can then be packed.

Vacuum sealing: vacuum sealing film has additional properties

At the same time, it is worth remembering that vacuum sealing has another advantage – the vacuum sealing film used in the process of creating a customised bag has additional properties. Firstly, the film sleeves are extremely resistant to mechanical damage. In addition to this, they are also resistant to moisture – which is particularly important for products with paper components or electronics. It is also worth mentioning that RAJA film sleeves are also resistant to solvents and chemicals.

Thus, this packaging method is recommended for electronic and other products that require careful transportation. Vacuum sealing film is also often used for food packaging. The film sleeves are also excellent for processing.

Anti-static packaging – safe shipment of sensitive products

Electronic products require special packaging and storage. Vacuum sealing is not always the best solution – sometimes anti-static packaging is necessary, especially for much smaller products or even small components (such as batteries, memory cards or small components). Antistatic packaging prevents the build-up of electrostatic charges – thus protecting the electronics inside.

For example, small antistatic bags are recommended for protecting memory cards or electrical components. Thanks to its properties, the pouch prevents electrostatic discharges. Similar protection is guaranteed by antistatic bubble foil pouches – on the one hand, they prevent the accumulation of charges, on the other hand, they additionally protect the packed component from mechanical damage. The RAJA antistatic bubble bags are additionally equipped with an adhesive strip and, thanks to the smooth interior, the packed items can be inserted and removed freely.

Another type of anti-static packaging is the anti-static string pouch. Not only do they retain their antistatic properties, but also – they also protect against moisture and dust thanks to their tight fastening. In addition, they can be reusable – precisely because of the string closure.

Anti-corrosive packaging – protects against dampness

Another type of specialised packaging that shopkeepers should equip themselves with is anti-corrosion packaging – or so-called moisture absorbers. They protect against potential damage that could be caused by condensation. The RAJA range includes moisture absorbers in sachets of various types – from mini sachets to large packs. These sachets should be placed inside the packaging in which the product will be stored or transported – for example, in a container or box. Moisture-absorbing sachets are most often inserted into packaging in which food or clothing will be stored or transported. Corrosion-resistant packaging is also important when goods are transported over long distances – e.g. to other countries, because the products are then kept longer in their packaging and are therefore more vulnerable to moisture or mould.

The sachets are most often filled with silica gel, which has a high drying power. This makes the food absorbers ideal for transporting not only food and clothing, but also – pharmaceutical and electronic products.

Choosing the right packaging can be crucial

Due to the different properties of specialised packaging, it is worth considering before packing the goods which packaging will best protect the item from various external influences. Usually, food, electronics and clothing require additional protection, but neither should cosmetics or tools, for example, be forgotten. Choosing the right packaging will therefore allow the goods to be transported safely – which is extremely important for both the entrepreneur and his customers.
