How to wrap a book for a gift?

It seems that a book is an easy gift to wrap because it has a regular shape and is small. And indeed it is. Apart from decorative paper, what packaging can be used to wrap it? How to wrap a book in an original way?

A book is always a great gift idea. It is a versatile gift that can be easily packaged. If the gift-giver wants to emphasise the importance of the relationship with the person he or she intends to bestow a gift on, he or she usually spends more time on elaborate and original gift wrapping, so that the package stands out from the rest.

Gift wrapping a book

As a gift for a friend or a person whose taste is well known, one usually chooses books whose subject matter corresponds to the recipient’s interests, placing a suitable dedication on the first page. If it is a distant acquaintance, one can always bet on some novelty or bestseller, hoping that they will meet with appreciation.

Books are usually wrapped in decorative paper. Important tip! When buying paper, pay attention to its weight: the thicker the paper, the better it is for wrapping, as books, especially hardbacks, have sharp corners which can cut through paper that is too thin and destroy the effect of the work. To guard against this, you can wrap the book in bubble wrap before wrapping it in paper. If you are wrapping a very thin book, measure the necessary piece of paper carefully.

Many people pack books in decorative bags. In this case, however, it is important to make sure that the bag is the right size for the book (not too big and not too small – in a bag that is too big, the book will move around all the time and in a bag that is too small, the book may get punctured by sharp corners).

In keeping with the eco and zero waste trend, a book can be packaged in a natural way using plain wrapping paper or old newspaper. For decoration, you can use packing string, natural raffia, and use natural accessories such as plants (twigs, pinecones, flowers, leaves). This is an ideal way to wrap a book as a gift for people who care about the environment. Cellophane is also suitable for wrapping a book. You can use transparent or coloured cellophane and decorative If the book has a soft cover, you can put a piece of cardboard underneath. You can see the contents of the packaging through the cellophane, so using this material spoils the surprise, but it looks very striking! You can also choose a recently fashionable way of packaging, which came to us from the Land of the Cherry Blossom.
