The number of online shops and their users is growing dynamically from month to month. More and more people are becoming convinced of the convenience and cheapness of online shopping and, consequently, customers are becoming more demanding and choose only the best shops. Currently, the statistical e-shopper sends several hundred parcels every month.
One of the values most valued by customers is the quality of packaging of the ordered goods. How should a parcel be packed for shipment and what forms of parcel protection are most effective? Answers to these and other questions can be found in this article.
Parcel packaging and e-shop image
Taking care of the aesthetic appearance of the parcel is one of the most important elements of building a positive image of the online shop. As it turns out in practice, the correct packaging of the parcel is just as important as its delivery to the customer intact.
Online shop owners should bear in mind that parcels are handled and sorted during transport, and therefore need to be effectively protected so that the valuable contents are not damaged and look good in the hands of the customer.
How to pack a parcel for a courier – outer packaging
Goods shipped usually come with the manufacturer’s packaging, which is a great convenience for e-shop owners. Such goods can be additionally protected with a foil envelope or bubble wrap. If the ordered item does not have factory packaging, the use of a corrugated cardboard box is an effective way to protect it.
Bubble wrap envelopes are also ideal for packing small consignments, while for goods such as maps, paintings, posters, or other delicate items with an elongated shape, cardboard tubes and sleeves can be used to provide robust and lightweight reusable packaging.
It is worth taking care of the correct packaging of the ordered goods, all the more so as the employee of the courier company has the right to refuse to accept the consignment if he/she considers that it has not been properly secured and that there is therefore a risk of damage during transport.
How to pack a parcel for shipment – protecting the contents
Just as important as the external packaging of the parcel is the filling of its interior in such a way that the item inside is effectively protected against movement. One of the most popular fillers is bubble wrap, which is ideal for items of various sizes and non-standard shapes.
Equally effective are lightweight and economical parcel fillers, which are great for stabilising the contents of your parcel and at the same time enable you to reduce postage costs. Some shops, such as the Rajapack brand, offer eco-friendly Flo-pak fillers, which are biodegradable when exposed to air and water.
Such well thought-out package protection guarantees that the goods ordered by the customer will not be damaged in transit and will arrive intact.
Making the parcel stand out
E-shop owners should remember that the safety of the parcel is also strongly influenced by its proper labelling. For this purpose, it is worth using warning stickers, hangers and colourful labels with information such as “caution, glass” or “top” and “bottom”. It is also a good idea to include information directly for the recipient: “check the contents with the courier”, as this increases the chance of compensation in the event of damage to the goods.
