Learn about the essential pallet packing accessories
Palletisation is a logistical process for preparing goods for further storage and transport. It is essential for large companies involved in shipping goods. What accessories are necessary for pallet packaging? What is eco-palletisation?
Palletisation is very cost-effective for large companies that focus on the efficiency of their logistics processes. It works well in warehouses where many people need to work, even more so in shifts. It is used especially in the chemical, dairy, beverage, automotive and confectionery industries. Cartons, boxes and bags are palletised.
It consists in stacking goods on pallets according to the customer’s needs. To make it as efficient as possible, specially designed industrial robots are used for palletisation – so-called palletisers. They can operate several production lines simultaneously. Automation saves time, money, improves work safety and, above all, has a huge impact on increasing business efficiency. These robots can be adapted to different types of goods.
In addition to palletisers, pallets themselves, as well as packaging accessories, are required for palletisation.
Packaging accessories
The basis of palletisation is, of course, pallets – usually wooden, but also made of plywood or cardboard. In order to pack goods onto a pallet, pallet packing accessories are also necessary. These include:
- protective angles
- protective corners,
- dividers (cardboard and plastic),
- protective cones,
- stretch film.
They are used to protect the contents of the pallet during transport, but also to store goods in the warehouse.
Ecological accessories for pallet wrapping
Due to the pressing need to reduce the amount of waste produced, more and more businesses are using eco-friendly packaging – this also applies to palletisation. Eco-palletisation is the stacking of goods on pallets using eco-friendly packaging and accessories. The pallets themselves are ecological, as they are made of approximately 80% recycled wood (wood offcuts joined by glue). Once they have been used, they can be recycled again. Plywood and cardboard pallets are also available. It is also advisable to use environmentally friendly palletising accessories, such as environmentally friendly stretch (stretch) cast film made from up to 80% recycled material, as well as: cardboard angles and corners, spacers and safety cones.
Protective angles and corners
Protective angles and corners are the ideal solution for securing and reinforcing pallet loads – during transport, but also during storage. They are made from 100% recycled paper and are therefore environmentally friendly and recyclable. By using protective corners for pallets and corners, the goods on the pallet are stabilised and, at the same time, corners and corners are protected from possible mechanical damage. Protective corners are available in 2 versions – with narrow wings – for lightweight goods and with wide wings – protecting the entire height of the pallet. They are moisture-resistant, unbreakable and shock-resistant.
Plastic separators
Plastic palletdividers have good insulating properties and protect against moisture, so they are suitable for outdoor storage and shipping. They are used in the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, electronics, glass and agricultural industries. The RAJA range includes blue dividers for light loads and grey dividers for heavy loads.
Cardboard separators
Cardboard pallet dividers are used for stacking irregularly shaped objects on pallets and stabilise the load. They are crushproof. They can also be used to cover the top/bottom of a pallet load. Cardboard pallet liners come in 2 thicknesses – 3 layer and 5 layer (for heavier goods).
Safety cones
The safety cones are made of microwave and are fully recyclable. They are great for securing pallets and cartons, as well as for storage. They have clear markings with a warning. They are very easy to fit – using self-adhesive strips or strapping tape.
