Cardboard packaging can take a variety of forms and shapes, making it easily and precisely adaptable to the transportation and storage of different products. What’s more, by using cardboard with different properties, the packaging can be more robust and will allow it to carry heavier loads, and can also be more resistant to temperature, humidity and other weather conditions.
What is worth bearing in mind when choosing cardboard boxes, containers and crates?
Properties of cardboard – from simple cardboard boxes to modular containers
To the untrained eye, cardboard is a homogeneous material, and any packaging made from this raw material looks almost the same. In practice, however, cardboard can have a different construction that affects the properties of the entire carton or other type of packaging. The most key and fundamental issue is the number of layers. It is this that largely determines for which purposes the packaging can be used.

3-layer cardboard. For lightweight products. -
5-layer cardboard. For heavy and fragile products. -
7-ply paperboard. For very heavy products and for export.
3, 5 or 7 layers – which cardboard to choose?
In the RAJAPACK product range we have 3-, 5 and also 7-ply cardboard available. The former is the lightest and most delicate and can be used for the storage and transport of lightweight products. 5-ply cardboard can withstand a load of up to 70 kilograms – it can be used for transport and storage in difficult conditions.
The 7-layer is the cardboard for special tasks. It can withstand loads of up to 500 kilograms. It is ideal for long-term storage and transport, whatever the conditions.
