Packaging machines are one of the biggest trends in packaging at the moment. Many businesses are realising the benefits of automating the packaging process. It’s not really that nice considering how it can increase productivity, cut material costs and minimise environmental impact. We take a look at why you should consider it too.
Why you need to automate your packing process
Product protection can be made faster, cheaper and more efficient by using packaging machines. Some of the obvious benefits are that you:
- optimise the packing and product handling process, thus increasing efficiency.
- reduces the amount of materials and accompanying waste, thus cutting costs.
- frees up storage space for additional inventory.
- helps reduce the environmental impact of your business.
- gives your business greater control over the packing process, improving flexibility.
If you handle more than 10 parcels a day, there’s a good chance that a packing machine could save your business both time and money. In fact, many machines can be rented, so you don’t have to worry about paying a large sum all at once.
If you’re packing a smaller number of items or dealing with specially designed products, an automatic packing machine may not be the best solution. In fact, a machine like the manual Fillpak M is likely to be a good help. We’ll come back to the Fillpak M later in this post.
Our experts are always ready to help you find the right packing solution for you and your business, and if you are unsure whether a packing machine might be right for you, contact us on tel: 22 51 40 00 or post@rajapack.no today.
Packing machines for protection
Ensuring that goods you ship arrive safely and intact is essential to any successful business, and to protect loose parts during transit, paper and air bags are perfect as shock-absorbent packaging. Protection packing machines produce quick and lightweight packing fill when needed, and are an alternative to buying ready-made packing fill (such as flo-pak, sizzlepak or bubble wrap).
Packing paper
Machines that convert paper into protection are both a budget-friendly and an environmentally-friendly way of creating parcel stuffing. There is still evidence that customers prefer to receive their parcels wrapped in paper, because they find it more environmentally beneficial.

The machines use piles or rolls of paper and produce compact and resistant fillings of crumpled paper, which can be used to wrap, lock, and protect the contents of packages.

Such machines are ideal for large pack quantities (they store up to 1.4 metres of paper protection per second), and although they require more space than air-jet machines, the paper fill and machines are more flexible because this type of fill can be better adapted to specific products’ packaging needs. If you pack more than 50 products per day, these machines are almost guaranteed to save you both money and time. Generally, they cut 30% of material consumption within the first 3 months.
Packing machines we recommend: PadPak and FillPak
More advanced models come with features like remote control, foot pedals and the ability to program paper lengths. At Rajapack, we have a wide selection of PadPak machines, so we have a machine for most needs.
The most affordable models such as the Fillpak M are suitable for smaller pack volumes. It feeds the paper through a tray and because it is manual, you have full control over how much protective paper you create. For more moderate pack volumes, machines such as the Padpak Junior are an obvious choice. It fits well into packing processes where at least 30 packs are packed per day.

Both FillPak TT and FillPak TT Cutter use 1-ply paper available in 3 qualities. One pallet of paper provides up to 72 m³ of package filling and can easily replace air trays, foam trays and interleaving paper. One of our innovations is Greenline paper, which is produced from 100% recycled materials and is an environmentally friendly alternative to the classic brown paper. Please note that Greenline paper is more greyish than other paper types due to the recycled fibres.

Fully automatic machines for large volumes such as PadPak Senior are perfect for more advanced packaging processes because they can provide a continuous flow of paper. The paper length can be programmed in advance so you are sure to always get the right amount of package filling.

Purchase, loan and maintenance
Buying a packing machine can be a big investment and it can be difficult for small and medium sized businesses to justify this expense. That’s exactly why you can rent many of our packing machines. There is no big immediate outlay and you have the opportunity to test the machine before you decide. This means you can focus on integrating the machine into your packing process without worrying about a long term financial commitment. The price includes free delivery and guidance on maintenance.
A final factor worth considering when integrating an automatic packing machine into your packing process is what happens if it breaks down and needs repair. Here you can take it easy; we’ll arrange for assistance if problems arise so you don’t have to be without the machine for an extended period.
