Imagine a packaging where EVERYTHING is made of paper: the ash or e-commerce bag, the bubble wrap, the parcel label, the parcel envelope, even the stretch film used to protect the pallet. Imagine what a stylish look your packaging will have and above all how easy it will be for the consumer to recycle!
Monomaterial is the strongest packaging trend of the year, and RAJA has everything you need to get started.

What is mono-material?
Mono-material, as the name suggests, means a product made up of a single type of material. Mono-material packaging makes it simpler for consumers to recycle – if the whole package is plastic, it can easily be sorted into plastic recycling, and if the whole package is made of paper, it can easily be placed in the paper bin at the recycling centre. Your customer doesn’t need to pull the plastic film out of a bubble envelope, or remove the packing tape and strapping from the packaging in order to recycle all the materials properly.
Paper mono-materials give a natural look, while sending a clear signal to your customers that you care about the environment.

Is paper better than plastic?
Yes, paper is generally better than plastic for the environment. Since paper and cardboard are made from wood, it is naturally degradable in nature. Plastic, which is made from oil, takes hundreds of years to degrade if it ends up in nature. When plastic degrades naturally, the residue also becomes present in the environment as microplastics.
Why should you consider paper instead of plastic when choosing packaging?
Here are three reasons:
- Renewable: As mentioned, paper is made from wood, a resource we can grow infinitely. This reduces the impact on the environment and the use of raw materials. When wood grows, CO2 is also removed from the air and converted into new oxygen. Not bad, right?
- Easier to sort: plastics come in many different varieties, from PP and PVC to LDPE and ABS. You have to be extra careful because you can’t always sort all the plastic together. Fortunately, this is easier with paper. You can deliver all clean paper waste in the same recycling container, so the material can get a new life through recycling.
- The good things about paper: paper and cardboard are highly resistant to dust, so your delivery will be in safe hands. Paper is generally free of chlorine and acids. It’s also antistatic. Are you sending electronics? Then there’s no risk of electrostatic discharges damaging your devices.
