Tone is a mother of three who lives in Westby, and her spare time is filled as a dedicated handball mom.
We at RAJA would like to let you get to know some of our employees a little better. That’s why we’re producing a series of articles introducing some of the people you’ll meet when you contact us. In addition to telling you a little about themselves, they share some good advice in an area of packaging that they’re particularly interested in.
Tone Aamodt.
Tone is an enterprising and energetic colleague and is one of the salespeople in RAJA. She has previously worked in a warehouse with packing and picking, and there she learned a lot about warehouse operations and the challenges that are found in a warehouse. Tone joined RAJA in 2012 and is a hands-on and solution-oriented lady, who always seeks the best solution for our customers.
Tone is sociable and likes to visit customers to optimize their warehouse, and she has gained a lot of experience through visits to a number of different warehouses. Some general advice she would like to share:
- An important task during packaging is to find the right protection for the products to be shipped. This depends on what kind of goods you are shipping.
- By choosing the right size of box for what you are sending, you minimise the need for filling material, saving money and the environment.
- The choice of filling material also depends on the environmental profile of your farm. Farms that use plastic as filling material should assess whether they can switch to paper (alternatively recycled plastic). Paper as filling material costs slightly more, but is better for the environment.
Packing machines
Packing machines are a theme that Tone is particularly keen on. This can be a good investment for businesses that send a certain amount of parcels every day. A packing machine is also suitable for those who want to save space in the warehouse, since you don’t have to store large rolls of bubble wrap or large bags of packing chips, for example. A packing machine will also make it easier to keep the warehouse tidy, since you won’t have a mess of packing chips. And in terms of customer experience, it is more convenient to receive machine-made filling material than packing chips, for example, which tend to float around a bit.
Tone often recommends Ranpak packing machines to its customers as they cover most needs. These machines fill packages with paper protection or paper fill, and come in a variety of models and sizes. You can read more about these in RAJA’s webshop.
Tone will also highlight RAJA’s own packing machines, RAJA Air 1 and RAJA Air 2. These are packing machines for airfill and there are several alternatives when it comes to choice of film. There is both recycled film and paper film. Read more about these here.
Another machine that can be of great use to customers who want to take environmental concerns into account is a paperboard maculator. With this you can turn your used paperboard into filling material. This form of recycling saves you the costs of filling material, while you do not have to deliver used paperboard for recycling. Read more about these here.
Finally, Tone highlights the New Air air packer from Sealed Air, which is suitable for larger industrial operations. As the name suggests, this is an air packer, both for protection and filling material.
Please contact Tone if you want to know more about the benefits you can get from packing machines.
