Innovative innovations in protective packaging

There is a high degree of innovation in the packaging industry, and the goal of more environmentally friendly packaging is a strong driver. Here we take a look at some of this year’s product innovations in protective packaging, which provide good protection while being better environmental choices.

Protective packaging is especially important for e-commerce. Goods that are stored, transported and shipped to customers must arrive in perfect condition and therefore need to be protected during transport. From ashtrays to filling material to padded envelopes to foam film and edge protectors – all packaging must provide good protection while having as low an environmental impact as possible. To achieve this, much is being done to find new materials, new packaging processes and new ways to recycle packaging materials.

Replace plastic with paper

Many people want to reduce plastic consumption, and new packaging products made of kraft paper are still being developed. Among this year’s new products at RAJA you will find paper stretch film, which is an excellent alternative to plastic stretch film, especially for products stored indoors. The stretch film is made of recyclable kraft paper and has a surface that sticks to the products it is wrapped around, even without the use of a packaging machine.

Another exciting product novelty is paper strapping. This is an innovative environmentally friendly variant that is FSC certified and produced from 95% recycled kraft paper and 5% vegetable glue. The strapping is strong and is a good alternative to plastic strapping.

Packaging chips are widely used to protect products inside boxes, but traditional packaging chips are made of plastic. However, there are also green packaging chips made of biodegradable corn starch. These have been available at RAJA for some time and are becoming increasingly popular. The green packaging chips are biodegradable in water and do not leave behind toxic waste.
