Have you just started a web shop, or are you planning to? We at RAJA are still being contacted by fresh web shop owners. They like to ask us what they need from packaging, and we always welcome the opportunity to offer some advice and tips

We have created a checklist with 9 points you as a netbutikkeier should think about when shopping for packaging.
Checklist
1. What to send ?
The first thing you need to know is what you’re sending. What are the dimensions and how heavy is it? Think about what kind of goods or products you’re talking about. How many different types of products do you sell? Do you use envelopes or do you need boxes, bags or cases? How many different products at a time do you see yourself sending together? See some of our boxes here
2.How do you want your packaging to look ?
What first impression do you want your customer to have when your package is delivered? Think about how you want your customers to experience receiving your package. For example, think about whether you want to use white or brown boxes in your online store? White boxes are considered by some to be more expensive, while brown boxes can be perceived as more environmentally friendly. Have you thought about what the unboxing experience should be like for your customer? Remember that the unboxing experience is an important part of the customer relationship
3. Need some product protection ?
Whether you need protection depends on the type of product. How shielded are the products? If they can be crushed, you need protection. There are many options to choose from, such as bubble wrap, packing chips, tissue paper or paper stuffing. The most important thing is that the product is locked in the packaging so that it doesn’t get left lying around.
Also when it comes to choosing protection, you need to think about how you want what you are sending to look when it is unpacked. There are several types of protection that also look pen, for example tissue paper or paper strips. And last but not least – do you want the protection to be environmentally friendly? There are many environmentally friendly alternatives, like paper fill or environmentally friendly packing chips
4. How should the package be sealed ?
Do you need strapping or tape? If you’re sending products in boxes, you’ll probably need packing tape. There are several alternatives, and we recommend environmentally friendly paper tape. If this doesn’t work for you, you can also use PP tape, PVC tape or extra strong glass fibre tape. Read about different types of tape here.
If you’re sending larger boxes or packing boxes on pallets, you’ll also need strapping. There’s PP strapping for lighter goods or fibre, PET or steel strapping for heavier goods. We recommend environmentally friendly PET strapping , which is made from 80% recycled material
5. How should you send your goods ?
Does your online shop use Posten, Bring, Helthjem or Postnord – or another distributor? The different distributors have different requirements or standard measurements that give you different cost levels. We recommend that you contact your distributor and find out what the limits are, as this can save you a lot of money. Read about Parcel in the mailbox from Bring here.
6. How many parcels do you send a day ?
Think about how many customers you have, and if possible – how you think sales in your online shop will develop in the coming period. Do you have regular customers who shop with you at regular intervals? How often do they shop with you? Do you have any promotions or activities aimed at increasing sales in the coming period?
If you pack a certain number, it may be worth evaluating a packing machine. If you are a start-up business, this may be too early to think about, but it is something to evaluate for the future.
7. How will you mark the parcels from your online shop ?
Clear labelling is important to ensure that parcels reach the right recipient. There are various alternative labelling options, and the choice of labels also depends on the number of parcels you are sending. Also consider whether you need parcel pockets to protect transport documents from moisture and damage.
Read more about this in a previous blog post on marking goods.
8. How do you want to profile your online shop on the packaging ?
Packaging offers a great opportunity to build your brand. There are many options if you want to showcase your brand on packaging.
For a start-up business, we can recommend logo labels or logo packaging tape. Both options give your customers a good first impression while being a reasonable investment.
9. Have you thought about returns ?
To provide good customer service we recommend making it easy for your customers if they wish to return any of the goods. Experience shows that this will increase customer loyalty and the rate of repeat purchases.
We have several products that make it easy to return, such as e-commerce bags with double glue stripes or ashtrays with automated bottles and double glue stripes

Og til slutt noen tips:
- If you’re a newbie, don’t gap over too much at once. Start with a few sizes and products and expand as you go. RAJA has 3000 products in stock and delivers quickly, so you can get your hands on more products and sizes in a short time.
- Don’t use too much packaging. Some people choose bigger boxes than they need, or more protection inside the box than is necessary. It’s important to be careful here, as unnecessary packaging leads to both unnecessary environmental impact and higher costs than you need.
We can give you advice on what packaging products you need, and put together a starter pack proposal that suits your shop.
