[NL] Sativa Rheinau: efficient planting and seed shipment with RAJA

Sativa Rheinau AG is an organic seed company offering more than 600 varieties of vegetables, herbs, flowers, green manures and more for professional use and kitchen gardens. Since 2009, they have chosen RAJA Switzerland’s expertise for shipping their fragile ‘green’ products. Together, they ensure that every shipment can reach its final destination in perfect condition.

Can you tell us who Sativa Rheinau is?

Sativa Rheinau is an organic seed company offering more than 600 varieties of vegetables, herbs, flowers, green manures and more for professional use and kitchen gardens. We also focus on developing new varieties specially adapted to the conditions of organic cultivation. We are committed to independent and non-genetically modified seed supply in organic farming.

Our plant seed comes from about 120 small and medium-sized organic farms from Switzerland and surrounding regions. We supply customers mainly in Switzerland, but also in EU countries. Sativa was founded in 1998.

Since when have you partnered with RAJA and what packaging solutions does Sativa use?

We mainly work with RAJA for purchasing shipping packaging for our products. We currently order around 10 different sizes and types of boxes. On top of that, we can turn to RAJA for all kinds of additional products, just think of tape, document sleeves and stretch film for pallets. Our cooperation started in November 2009. We then ordered our first shipment of boxes and transport trucks.

What is important to you guys when shipping a product?

At Sativa, we ship around 30,000 parcels every year. Many of those orders contain fragile, live products (plants and seeds). The key is therefore to protect those fragile items as much as possible. Good packaging is crucial in this respect. Thanks to RAJA, we have found solutions that perfectly suit our shipping needs.

Did you consciously choose sustainable packaging?

Since we are mainly involved in selling organic products, we consider sustainability an important factor. If there is a more sustainable alternative to traditional packaging, we always choose that alternative. For example, in the past we tested stretch film made of 80% recycled material. We were immediately very satisfied with it and decided to order it from RAJA from now on.

Why did you choose RAJA Switzerland?

Ever since the moment I started my career here, we have been working with RAJA. The total package that RAJA can give us offers the most possibilities and advantages. We attach great importance to the very short delivery times, as well as the wide product range. If we need something new, we always find a solution at RAJA. Moreover, the customer service is excellent!

Recently, we also started sending young plants by post. For this we needed a unique box that ensures the plants arrive undamaged at our customers’ premises. Together with RAJA, we managed to develop such a box. From day 1, we already received positive feedback of this from our customers. Proof of the great success story Sativa and RAJA have been able to build together.
