What does the packaging world look like today? We were recently asked that question by Onlineretailer magazine. In an interview, current topics such as sustainability, personalisation and volume reduction were discussed in detail. After all, we ourselves noticed that end consumers attach increasing importance to these points. So something to definitely take into account!
1. Packaging with a green character
One of the most important topics in packaging is about the ecological issue: how can we package products in an environmentally friendly way? Here at Rajapack, we started looking for good solutions years ago. Currently, already 51% of all Rajapack’s packaging products are eco-friendly. In other words, they are 100% recyclable, fully or partially recycled, originating from sustainably managed forests and carrying official (national or European) certificates. For each of our products, there is therefore also an eco-friendly alternative. Because Rajapack has more than 92% of its articles produced in Europe, we also ensure that the ecological footprint is kept to a minimum.
2. Less is more: volume reduction
Another working point in the packaging world is about volume reduction. The weight and size of a package have a big impact on transport costs. So it is important to provide the most efficient packaging possible for the lowest shipping costs. This can be done, for example, by choosing a box with crease lines. These boxes are perfectly adaptable to the dimensions of your product. Also don’t forget the protective material! The lighter the better! Air cushions and bubble wrap are often the sturdiest and lightest solution to protect your products during shipping.
3. Make it personal!
One last point that should definitely not be overlooked in the packaging world is about personalisation. Millions of boxes and packages are shipped every day. Question is how can you stand out in the crowd? You can easily give your brand extra visibility with, for example, printed boxes, bags or tape. You choose your own colours and logo and let the printer do all the work. No matter where the consumer walks around with your carrier bag, your brand will be seen everywhere and therefore gain more and more exposure. Personalisation is clearly on the rise and should definitely not be forgotten!
With the strong growth in the e-commerce sector, it has become increasingly important to consider each of these themes. End consumers are placing more and more importance on their ordered products being delivered in an environmentally friendly and preferably as cheap as possible way. At Rajapack too, we take this into account. The full interview with Onlineretailer can be found here.
