The first Italian edition of the Festival of Sustainable Development, a travelling event that will touch several Italian cities including Milan, Rome and Naples, started on 22 May.
The festival was organised byASviS, the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development, and will last 17 days.
Seventeen is also the number of goals that theUN General Assembly has set itself to achieve by 2030. All these goals are contained in the2030 Agenda, which was also signed by Italy.
Why is the Festival of Sustainable Development important?
The aim of this event is to raise awareness of the more topical issue of sustainability in all its facets. The aim is to turn sustainability into a perspective shared by the entire country.
Italians have repeatedly shown themselves to be attentive to this issue. In fact, a recent survey conducted by the Unipolis Foundation showed that 85% of Italians (the percentage rises to 93 when talking about young people) are in favour of policies oriented towards sustainable development and that 65% (71% among young people) think that environmental protection should be a priority for politics, even at the expense of economic growth.
