Plastic collection to support women who recycle

Why collect plastic?
Each European citizen uses at least 198 plastic bags every year.
The bags break down into toxic particles that contaminate soil and groundwater.80% of plastic is not recycled but ends up in landfills, where it takes over 300 years to decompose.

Filles du facteur
The NGO Filles du Facteur supports numerous women living in precarious conditions, due to illiteracy, disability or social isolation, who struggle to get a job. Many of the women helped are in Burkina Faso, others belong to the Roma camps in the French banlieues. The non-profit organisation teaches them the recovery of plastic and its transformation into eco-friendly saleable objects.
It also trains them to manage every aspect of their business: accounting, administrative procedures, quality control, sales development. Once they have learned the techniques of weaving, the women become independent and are free to create the most diverse objects.
The benefit is twofold, on the one hand plastic is recovered and transformed into sustainable objects, on the other hand the dignity of the women is recovered through a job that makes them independent.
A gift for all Rajapack women
60% of the 1600 Rajapack employees are women. Today they all received a gift. These are plastic fruit boxes and key rings commissioned specifically for the women of Filles du Facteur.
With the plastic collected from all employees during this week of mobilisation, a large-scale work will be created and placed in Paris, at the company’s largest European headquarters.
