Rajapack celebrates Earth Day

2min read 22/04/2016

Today is Earth Day, which this year has an added value. In fact, UN Secretary Ban Ki Moon chose 22 April 2016 to ratify the historic climate agreement signed last December in Paris.

All over the world, numerous initiatives are being organised to make as many people as possible aware of the need to protect the Planet!

We too, like Rajapack, want to make our contribution.

Last year, on the occasion of COP21, the UN Climate Conference, we initiated the Women & Environment projects.

In practice, without changing the price of our ecological packaging, for every purchase we donated 1 or 2€ to projects in favour of the environment and women, the first victims of climate change.

We decreased our profit margins, but managed to collect more than 420,000€, which we donated on 8 March 2016, Women’s Day, to 5 non-profit organisations.

Today, on World Earth Day, we want to tell you that we are not stopping.

We have again selected 3 green packages and we will continue to donate 1 or 2€ per package at each of their sales. These are the variable height boxes, the paper adhesive tapes and the paper shopping bags.

3 PRODOTTI ECO-SOLIDALI

The proceeds from this initiative will enable us to follow 3 new projects:

The first is located in Senegal, in the Siné Saloum nature reserve. Through the EDNA association, we will teach women more sustainable shell collecting practices, to preserve the marine ecosystem, threatened by the intensive exploitation of fish resources.

The second Rajpack project takes us to Georgia. Here, through the WECF association, we will mobilise women and train them to spread efficient and low-polluting energy solutions throughout the country, exploiting the benefits of renewable energy.

Finally, Rajapack will come to India, where through the GoodPlanet Foundation we will equip numerous farms with bio-gas production systems from agricultural waste, as well as ‘vermicompost’ units. Numerous households will thus become energy self-sufficient.
