Are you paying enough attention to the security of your shipments?
In order to be able to make an assessment, it is important that you take into account how susceptible your type of product is to break-ins, but above all the costs that theft and tampering bring.
For some types of product (see image below) the risk is very high:
In the event of theft, in addition to having lost the goods, you will have to organise and bear the costs of a new shipment with a new product, thus losing a large part of the profit from the sale.
But not only that, the biggest bill will be presented to you by the dissatisfied customer, who will probably leave a negative review.
Remember: the customer perceives and appreciates the care you take in handling his order!
How do you demonstrate this to them? By having your goods arrive on time, well protected and properly presented.
An intelligent anti-theft solution for shipping
Are there any deterrents to discourage mishandlers and thus protect your parcels from theft and tampering during transport? Of course, burglar-proof packaging!
What is anti-theft packaging?
There are different types: burglar-proof envelopes, burglar-proof tape, burglar-proof labels… Some packaging was not even originally designed for that purpose but may have it.
As mentioned above, burglar-proof packaging works as a deterrent because it makes a break-in attempt immediately visible, thus deterring a possible intruder.
An example? Let’s take security tape, if some malicious intruder were to attempt to remove it, it would leave a clearly visible message, directly on the box!
Personalised adhesive tapes as an anti-theft method
Instead, let’s talk about packaging that is not designed to prevent theft and tampering but which can have this function. The best example is customised tapes. In addition to communicating a message or showing your logo, customised adhesive tapes help you to have an even higher level of security. How? Because they are personalised, they cannot be replaced in the event of a break-in!
Accepting the parcel by signing with reservation
But what if you are the customer and receive a package that has been damaged or has been tampered with? The first thing you can do is to sign the courier’s dispatch note with reservation. This way you accept the parcel, despite the fact that it is externally damaged, without declaring that what it contains is intact.
This method of acceptance serves as your guarantee in case the product inside has also been compromised in some way.
There is one clause, the courier is only obliged to accept a signature with reservation if the package actually shows signs of damage.
In the event that the courier does not accept your request, the only way you can protect yourself is not to accept the damaged package and send it back to the sender.

Another category worth mentioning are the indicator labels, depending on the use you can choose either the flip or the impact labels. If the product is very fragile or has special characteristics, the fact that the package is not damaged externally is not sufficient as a guarantee of the integrity of the product inside.
Overturn indicator labels
Is it important that your package is not turned upside down during shipment? Apply these labels to your packages, the label will turn red if they have been tilted by at least 90°C.
The indicator protects you against damage during shipment and allows customers to accept the goods with reservation.
Impact indicator labels
These labels are sensitive to shocks and react to them by changing colour from white to red. This makes it immediately visible if the package has suffered shocks.
