Sativa Rheinau AG is an organic seed company offering more than 600 varieties of vegetables, herbs, flowers, green manures and more for professional use and for home gardens. Since 2009, it has chosen the expertise of RAJA Switzerland for the shipment of its ‘green’ and fragile products. Together, they ensure that each shipment reaches its final destination in perfect condition.

Can you explain who Sativa Rheinau is?

Sativa Rheinau is an organic seed company offering more than 600 varieties of vegetables, herbs, flowers, green manures and more for professional use and for home gardens. We also focus on the development of new varieties specifically adapted to the conditions of organic cultivation. We are committed to providing independent, non-genetically modified seeds in organic farming.

Our vegetable seeds come from around 120 small and medium-sized organic farms in Switzerland and the surrounding regions. We supply our customers mainly in Switzerland, but also in EU countries. Sativa was founded in 1998.

How long have you been working with RAJA and which packaging solutions does Sativa use?

We mainly work with RAJA for the purchase of packaging for shipments. We currently order about ten boxes of different sizes and types. We also turn to RAJA for additional products, such as adhesive tape, document envelopes and stretch film for pallets. Our cooperation started in November 2009, when we ordered boxes and trolleys.

What is important to you when shipping a product?

Sativa ships around 30,000 parcels per year. Many of these orders contain fragile and live products (plants and seeds). It is therefore essential to protect them as much as possible. Good packaging is crucial in this respect. Thanks to RAJA, we have found solutions that perfectly meet our shipping needs.

Did you deliberately choose sustainable packaging?

Since we mainly sell organic products, we consider sustainability an important factor. If there is a more sustainable alternative to traditional packaging, we always choose it. For example, in the past we tested a stretch film made of 80 per cent recycled materials. We were immediately very satisfied with it and decided to order it from RAJA from now on.

Why did you choose RAJA Switzerland?

Since I started my career here, we have been working with RAJA. The global offer that RAJA can provide us with is the one that offers the most possibilities and advantages. We attach great importance to very short delivery times as well as the wide range of products. If we need new products, we always find a solution at RAJA. Moreover, the customer service is excellent!

Recently, we have also started sending plants by post. For this, we need a unique box to ensure that the plants arrive intact to our customers. In cooperation with RAJA, we were able to develop a custom-made box. From day one, we have received positive reactions from our customers.
