In this article we will talk about pallets, giving you an overview of what they are and what uses and developments they have undergone recently. We will focus in particular on INKA Pallets. Lightweight and environmentally friendly, they are an excellent solution for handling goods.
The pallet was already known and used by the American military during the Second World War to support and hold goods to be shipped to Europe. Today it is used for a wide variety of purposes and is in great demand, not only for the handling and storage of goods.
Thanks to the rapid spread and growth of do-it-yourself , it has become popular because it allows the creation of many objects for use in the home as well as in the garden. To make tables, sofas, garden tool holders, flowerpots, frames, the classic wood is generally preferred.
Although wood is the most common, it is not the only material a pallet can be made of. There are equally high-performance and reliable alternatives such as cardboard pall ets and plastic pallets.
What are INKA pressed wood pallets and how they are made
Given the widespread use of pallets, efforts have been made to rethink and design them from a sustainable perspective in order to limit their impact on the environment. This need gave rise to the INKA pallets, which are pressed wood pallets made using a wood disposalprocess.
These pallets are made of old and used wood that is chipped and dried through a high-pressure moulding process, mixing dried wood particles (approx. 85%) and urea resin (approx. 15%) to remove moisture and carbon dioxide. Both the chips and the binder (urea resin) are completely biodegradable.
Not only that, old INKA pallets, if broken up, can be used without any problems as fertiliser or glued back together to make new pallets.
At RAJA you can find 3 types of INKA Pallets:
1) INKA Pressed Wood Mini Pallet ideal for transporting small products
2) Standard INKA Pressed Wood Pallet the most versatile
3) INKA Container Pressed Wood Pallet ensures optimal utilisation of space inside ISO shipping containers
The advantages of the INKA pallet
INKA pallets are an innovative pallet type designed to improve efficiency and sustainability in logistics and cargo handling operations. INKA is a high-quality , prestigious pallet brand based in Germany, known for its patented technology and cutting-edge design.
All INKA pallets are lightweight, economical, space-saving and IPPC- FAO ISPM15 compliant. They can be used in many different areas: thanks to the various formats in which they are manufactured, they are optimal as transport pallets, displays, but also as ISO container pallets.
The adoption of INKA pallets can bring numerous benefits to companies, including greater efficiency in logistics, reduced transport costs and better management of natural resources . Furthermore, choosing to use sustainable pallets can contribute to a more eco-friendly and environmentally responsible corporate image.
The 9 main advantages of INKA pallets:
- Sustainable materials: INKA pallets are mainly made using PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) certified wood or wood from sustainably managed forests. This helps reduce environmental impact and promote responsible forest management practices.
- Economical: thanks to their favourable prices, they offer excellent value for money , allowing you to reduce storage and transport costs. You will not incur any additional costs forexport to ISPM15 countries because they are already ISPM15 FAO compliant. These particular pallets are in fact made of exempt material, classified by the standard itself as “NO WOOD PALLET“.
- Bonding technology: The patented bonding technology used in the production of INKA pallets guarantees greater strength and durability. This makes the pallets suitable for transporting heavy loads and for repeated handling operations.
- Lightand strong: Although lighter than some traditional wooden pallets, INKA pallets are extremely strong and can withstand considerable weight without compromising safety.
- Space-saving: they take up 50% less space than traditional Euro pallets, plus they are conveniently stackable.
- Standardisation: INKA pallets are designed in accordance with international standards, allowing for seamless interoperability with handling equipment such as forklifts and automated storage systems.
- Reusableand recyclable: One of the distinctive aspects of INKA pallets is their reusable nature. Once the pallet’s life cycle comes to an end, they can be recycled or converted to other applications, minimising waste.
- Quality certifications: INKA pallets are subject to rigorous quality control and compliance, and are often certified to standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
- Global availability: INKA pallets are distributed worldwide and are widely used in various industries, including food, automotive, chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
