Yes, if Rajapack quality marries design by Fattelo!
Fattelo! is a DIY Open Source design project created by 4 young designers: Federico Trucchia, Daniele Schinaia, Mattia Compagnucci e Antonio Scribano.
The idea they came up with? 01Lamp, a cardboard lamp with LED light, and 02Noctambula, a pet lamp made of Tetra Pak.
Why Open Source and DIY? Because from the website you can download for free and bring to light lamps made from the most disparate recycled materialslike the pizza carton.
However,Fattelo! also offers an e-commerce where the lazy or time-poor can buy lamps online. They receive pre-cut cardboard sheets with the LEDs and cables already in place directly to their home or office. Then it only takes a few simple steps to illuminate their desks with creativity.
To find out more about this project, we talk to Antonio Scribano, co-founder and Project Manager of Fattelo!
1) How did you discover Rajapack as a packaging supplier?
We needed to find packaging for 01Lamp that would fulfil two functions: to present the product in the shop, but also to protect it during the dispatch of orders that arrived on our e-commerce. As we were still a small start-up with few financial resources, we decided to look for an existing packaging instead of designing one from scratch.
We were already familiar with Rajapack from past work experience, so we looked for possible packaging for the 01Lamp and came across Rigipack. Apart from the fact thatthe cardboard envelope was robust for shipping, we were struck by the clean, angulardesign that matched 01Lamp well. An important plus for us was that the packaging was reusable for further shipments (the removal of the tab that allows the closure does not prevent the envelope from being resealed with tape) or even to build an additional 01Lamp.
Of course, a bit of customisation could not be missing: we added a simple label, resulting in very elegant, inexpensive and ready-to-use packaging.
2) Was the advice of the Rajapack packaging experts helpful in finding a high-performance packaging solution?
For our choice we relied on the clarity of your website and our past experiences that had made us experience the reliability and quality of Rajapack products.
However, I remember that we sent an e-mail to your customer care to make sure of the actual size of the envelope. Apart from the reassurance, we were impressed by the sincere interest in our project of Samuele Maggi, your salesman. We thought this was a nice sign of customer care, which also led us to this interview!
3) What do you appreciate about the Rajapack service?
Apart from customer service, we really appreciate the care Rajapack puts into the design and production of its packaging solutions. We feel that it can indeed be a point of reference for those realities that, like us, need to take care of details but at the same time need to find scalable and high quality solutions.
4) Do you appreciate Rajapack’s commitment to Women & Environment projects?
We feel it is an important commitment that we cannot but share. Although we are four men, we strongly believe that women can make an important contribution to the project, thanks to their way of looking at the world from a different perspective (it is no coincidence that our second product, 02Noctambula, is mainly the result of the work of a dear friend of ours: the Spanish designer Mireia Gordi Vila).
As far as the environment is concerned, however, we wonder if there is room to design packaging that earns a second life, generating new products. For a while now, we have been enticed by the idea of working on a packaging project that could then be transformed into a 01Lamp, a 02Noctambula or any other product that carries the values of reuse and design.
