Which broom is suitable for what

Every year from 30 April to the first of May is Walpurgis Night and in the myths and legends it serves as a flying machine on Blocksberg: the broom. But it is not only a prop for witches or wizards, rather almost everyone needs it as an effective cleaning tool for cleaning the floor.

The broom: the effective cleaning tool for cleaning floors

Which broom is suitable for what depends primarily on the nature of the floors. Depending on where the sweeping is to be done, different basic materials are recommended. The materials of the bristle head are decisive:

- Broom with vinyl bristles are particularly suitable for smooth floors indoors. Due to their low dead weight, they are particularly well suited for long sweeping jobs in department stores, supermarkets or warehouses.
- Brooms with coconut and PVC bristles are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. The natural coconut fibres are in the middle of the broom, the PVC fibres on the outer edge prevent the sweeping material from splashing thanks to their special corrugation. Coconut fibres are very stretchable and durable, they are insensitive to moisture and are therefore very suitable for use on rough and smooth floors.
- For large indoor areas, there are special Hall brooms. They can be made of coconut fibre as well as synthetic fibre such as PVC. Especially for sensitive floors such as parquet floors, the soft coconut fibres are more suitable. Another advantage of brooms with pure natural fibres is that they are not electrostatic, unlike plastic brooms.
- Brooms with hard synthetic fibre bristles are best suited for outdoor sweeping. The PVC synthetic fibre bristles are particularly strong and resistant and are therefore especially suitable for large areas and coarse sweeping material.
- The classic Straw brooms is also only suitable for outdoor use because of its hard bristles, for example for sweeping terraces, courtyards or driveways. It has particularly coarse fibres that are obtained from the fruit panicles of sorghum millet. Unlike the other brooms, where the broom handle can be selected, here the broom head is already firmly attached to its handle.

For the small crumbs…

For the small crumbs in the coffee kitchen, you don’t have to unpack the big hall broom, of course, but sweeping sets are recommended here. The advantage: they can be used in any area, whether in the office, in the warehouse, in industry, in the trades or in the workshop, because “where work is done, chips fall”. The plastic sweeping set is particularly suitable for offices or kitchens, while the metal dustpan is especially robust and therefore particularly suitable for workshops and warehouses where coarse dirt has to be swept up.
