Shipping preparation at Brands Fashion

Brands Fashion GmbH was founded in 2002 in Buchholz i.d. Nordheide as a textile trading and service company and is now one of the leading textile specialists in the areas of workwear, sportswear and promotional clothing with numerous well-known national and international companies as customers. Brands Fashion is Europe’s market leader for sustainable workwear. Customers receive holistic support, from design and product development, through production and finishing, to logistics and webshop solutions.

In addition to product quality, Brands Fashion places particular emphasis on environmentally friendly production, social working conditions, efficiency and transparency. Thus, the worldwide production sites of the textiles are regularly audited and certified by independent testing institutes. Among other things, Brands Fashion is GOTS (Global Organic Standard) certified.

A long-standing cooperation in warehouse and shipping

The company’s logistics are handled at two locations, firstly at Brands Fashion in Buchholz and via a further logistics centre with 28,000 m² in Parchim in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. In these two high-bay warehouses, the goods are received, picked and shipped back to the customers.

140 employees in Buchholz, 35 of them in Parchim, supplemented in each case by temporary workers who cover peak times, work on the optimal processing of the dispatch. The warehouse space is used optimally to maximise the handling capacity. In Buchholz, there is a classic high-bay warehouse, a mobile racking system with 5,500 pallet spaces and a small parts magazine with 25,000 compartments.

RAJA supports Brands Fashion both in the preparation for dispatch and in the handling of the dispatch as well as in the picking of the goods. Brands Fashion has been working with RAJA since 2005, with a focus on cardboard boxes and everything needed for shipping preparation, from personalised packing tape and dispensers to cutter knives. Every day, up to 2,500 packages are sent by shipping service providers at both locations. These are not only cardboard boxes but also shipping bags printed by RAJA with the Brands Fashion logo. In addition, there are various tours with the company’s own trucks as well as shipping by forwarding agents. An additional 100 pallets are shipped each week. The trucks and containers are loaded and unloaded via RAJA roller conveyors.

Efficient dispatch preparation

The entire process at Brands Fashion is time-optimised. This is of crucial importance: how long does it take to erect the box, how long do I need to fold it and so on. RAJA proves to be a reliable partner both in terms of supply and equipment: “Our cotinuous and rapid growth has been accompanied by RAJA from the very beginning,” says Frank Blankertz, Logistics Manager at Brands Fashion. “For me, everything has to run efficiently. And with RAJA everything works immediately, the deliveries arrive quickly and correctly as ordered. Personal contact remains important even in the online age. I have a contact person, I call him and he immediately offers me quick solutions. And if necessary, he is quickly on site.”

Picking at Brands Fashion is done via Mobile Data Entry (MDE) and is optimised to perfection. With the help of the MDE, the routing is specified in the preparation for dispatch according to the shortest picking time. For example, a barcode is assigned to each pallet location. For this purpose, the pallets are equipped with special packing bags from RAJA into which the barcodes are inserted. In this way, the employee can be guided directly to the pallet via MDE. With large picking trolleys from RAJA, the pallet is approached by the employee and the goods can then be removed accordingly.

Ergonomic packing workstations

RAJA’s packing workstations ensure ergonomic work during shipping preparation: each packing workstation is equipped with an anti-fatigue mat that improves balance and allows for even weight distribution when standing for long periods of time.
