The RAJA Group donates 200,000 euros to the two humanitarian organisations Médecins Sans Frontières and the French Red Cross to meet the urgent needs of the population affected by the war in Ukraine. The RAJA Danièle-Marcovici Foundation has also provided 50,000 euros in emergency aid to the Centre for Women’s Rights in Poland, which is working on behalf of Ukrainian refugee women.
I am deeply saddened by this grave humanitarian crisis that is bringing so much suffering to the Ukrainian people. Many women, men and children are in urgent need of help. That is why we are supporting two major humanitarian organisations that are helping people on the ground in Ukraine and in neighbouring countries that are hosting refugees.says Danièle KAPEL-MARCOVICI, President and CEO of RAJA Group.
The RAJA Group has branches in the countries bordering Ukraine – Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia – as well as in the Czech Republic. The branches in Europe engage with local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to help refugees by donating clothes, food, money, toys and packaging to associations that transport medical supplies, necessities, food, etc. to Ukraine.
In Poland, the RAJA-Danièle Marcovici Foundation, dedicated to supporting actions in favour of women and girls, provided emergency aid of 50,000 euros to the Polish Centre for Women’s Rights, which is preparing to receive Ukrainian refugee women.
The current situation on the Ukrainian-Romanian border prompted many employees of Viking (a company acquired by RAJA Group in 2021) in Cluj, Romania, to go on an emergency mission to help refugees arriving in the country. Working with local NGOs, they provide transport, accommodation and urgent care for the refugees.
I think of all the Ukrainian women and their children who have taken the road to exile. I think of the Ukrainian men who were mobilised and could not accompany them. I am touched by the spirit of solidarity shown by our teams and I hope for a quick end to this war.says Danièle Kapel-Marcovici.
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is mobilised in the region to help people affected by the conflict in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. Médecins Sans Frontières’ Emergency Relief Fund enables their teams to respond quickly to humanitarian emergencies such as those currently taking place in Ukraine and neighbouring countries. They are present in Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Moldova, Romania, Belarus and Russia to determine how best to support the reception of the most vulnerable displaced people. Médecins Sans Frontières is also providing emergency aid inside Ukraine by supporting hospitals.
