Packing valuable items: Klunkerstern

4min read 16/12/2020
RAJA’s customer portfolio is broad and colourful. COLOURFUL applies especially to our customer “Klunkerstern”. Bianca Schuller’s woman-owned company is proof of how a beloved hobby can be turned into a profession. And the cooperation with RAJA shows how PINK can be the beginning of a wonderful friendship… 😉
With the passion for homemade and the colour pink, the family label “Klunkerstern” took the almost classic path: With the birth of her daughters, Bianca Schuller started to “market” her mother’s handicraft and sewing work under this label. Starting with sewing and handicrafts for friends and acquaintances, and then taking part in Christmas markets and trade fairs, the whole thing took off. Soon their daughters were big enough to try out their own ideas in the creative lab. This is how key rings, bags, cushions, gym bags, bookmarks, fabric garlands, school cones and above all: jewellery were created.

So much enthusiasm, so many ideas

And the “grown-ups” were amazed, because the passion for homemade things did not diminish, but continued to grow: Not only the daughters, but their friends and their friends’ friends were extremely creative when it came to designing their own jewellery. The more glitter, the better! This eventually inspired Klunkerstern to start a new line of business: it was not the finished product that was the key to success, but the joy of making it yourself.

Favourite courses for young and old

The courses are very popular. With high-quality material according to the wishes of the course participants, the favourite courses are now even offered at different course locations. The offer includes the material, the tools and a separate workplace for each participant. As demand grew, so did the team: “Klunkerfeen” are now on the road nationwide in the name of Klunkerstern at children’s birthday parties, girls’ evenings, hen parties, weddings and company parties. And more and more often they get the feedback:

Oooch, already over? Can we take some of the handicraft materials home with us?(gdv)

And this question led Klunkerstern to another, actually amazing discovery: the range of high-quality, slightly more individual DIY craft kits on the market was… manageable.

Trinket box – jewellery making kit for the home

With the idea of the Klunkerdose, Klunkerstern fulfils the demand for beautiful and high-quality jewellery craft sets – and this product was ultimately also extremely helpful during the lockdown. Because while the courses had to be suspended, of course, the Klunker tins, which were also presented at Trendset in Munich, an international trade fair for lifestyle, could still be sent out.

New demand for self-sewn items

In addition, the demand for individually – and above all child-friendly – designed mouth-nose masks arose, virtually overnight. All the materials and supplies needed were available and Klunkerstern began designing and producing child-friendly masks as soon as masks became compulsory. This was supported by the fact that the local newspaper also picked up on the topic and mentioned the small family label. The subsequent flood of orders via all channels such as telephone, webshop, Facebook and Instagram was both overwhelming and challenging for Klunkerstern.

Logistics and shipping: overnight

When looking for the quickly and urgently needed packaging material as well as shipping material to be able to send the orders, Bianca Schuller remembered RAJA. She had fond memories of the company from a visit to Fachpack, not least because of a special USP: our packaging silk and our Paper carrier bags in company colours: bright pink 🙂

Super conditions and personal contact at RAJA

With PINK, we naturally had our foot in the door at Klunkerstern. The rest was then done by the visit of one of our sales representatives, who convinced us with good tips on packing and shipping as well as with nice advice and good conditions.

There was simply great contact with RAJA right from the start – both at the trade fair and by telephone and later in person when the sales representative visited.

It’s only good when it glitters!

With the leap into online business and the mouth-nose masks on the market at the right time, Klunkerstern manoeuvres its way through the Corona era. RAJA is pleased to be able to support this fun-loving enterprise with various packaging products from carrier bags to tissue paper and cardboard boxes. And we are thrilled that we were able to convince them with our “Pink Collection”.

More about the company and some ideas for Christmas presents can be found at https://klunkerstern.de.

And in our interview series “Ça va? RAJA asks…”, we of course also let Bianca Schuller tell us about her experiences in the colourful world of Klunkerstern and talked to her about the influence of Corona on the business. Have fun watching ! The complete interview, here:
