Packaging machines are one of the biggest trends in packaging. Many companies have already seen great benefits in automating the packaging process. Not surprisingly:
The use of packaging machines increases productivity, reduces material costs and minimises environmental impact!
Why you should automate your packaging process:
Packaging machines can make product protection faster, cheaper and more efficient. Here are just some of the obvious benefits:
- optimises the packing process and thus increases efficiency
- Reduces the amount of material and associated waste, thereby lowering costs.
- automation allows the reduction of stored packaging material: storage space is freed up
- reduces your company's environmental impact
- gives your company more control over the packaging process, improving flexibility
More than 10 parcels a day?
If you handle more than 10 parcels a day, there is a high chance that a packaging machine will save your business time and money. Many machines can actually be rented, so you don’t necessarily have to worry about paying a large sum of money for a machine. You also remain flexible should, for example, your company’s order volume change. You can easily “switch” to another model.
Few, but special packages?
If you pack a much smaller number of items or deal with very special products (for example one-offs), an automatic packaging machine may not be the best solution for your business. Here, for example, the crinkle paper dispenser box may be sufficient. On the other hand, a machine like the manual Fillpak M will probably be a good help. We present it in more detail later in this article…
Packaging machines for protection
Being sure that delivered goods arrive well at their point of arrival is essential for a successful business. To protect loose items during transport, paper and air pillows are ideal as cushioning and fixing packaging. Protection packaging machines provide quick and easy pack fills when needed and are an alternative to purchasing pre-made pack fills (e.g. Flo-Pak, fillers or bubble wrap).
Paper package filler
Machines that convert paper into protection are a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way to create fills. Not always rightly so, but a widespread perception:
Paper or plastic?
The overwhelming majority of consumers surveyed will intuitively answer: paper! As is so often the case, however, there is no black or white answer to this question. In general, it is important to ask: How much energy was used in its production? For the cultivation? For transport? To what extent was recycled material used, how and with what energy expenditure can the material be recycled? Paper or plastic – which is the more environmentally friendly packaging in the end? Of course, no consumer is willing and able to do this “calculation”… Read also: Air cushion systems and environmental friendliness – contradiction or compatibility?
For wrapping, for fixing, for shock absorption
Paper is suitable for almost all requirements that a packaging material has to meet:
The machines draw in stacks or rolls of paper and transform them into compact and resistant fillings of corrugated paper that can be used to wrap, fix and protect the contents of the packaging.
And they do it quickly and effectively: the paper padding machines are capable of producing up to 1.4 metres of paper padding per second. If you pack more than 50 products per day, it is almost certain that these machines will save you both money and time, and usually 30% of material consumption in the first 3 months.
Low parcel volume between 30 and 50 parcels per day?
The lowest-priced models such as the Fillpak M are suitable for smaller pack quantities. The paper is fed through a hopper. Manual handling gives you complete control over how much protective paper you create. For moderate package quantities per day, machines like the Padpak Junior are an obvious choice. It fits well in packaging processes where at least 30 packages are packed per day.
Paper pads for higher demand
The FillPak TT machine is a good alternative if you need more pack fullness than the previous two machines can provide – The machine produces a total of 1.4m/second. Another obvious choice is the FillPak TT Cutter machine. The machine has an automatic cutting mechanism so that the paper blocks are fed directly from the machine into the packing box, making the packing process more efficient. The cutting mechanism can also be set to produce and cut a new paper pad as soon as the previous one is torn off. You can also set different paper lengths to create filler that exactly fits your shipments. Finally, it has a foot pedal so you have both hands free to pack and close the items. The FillPak TT Cutter is extremely fast and produces a pack fill of 1.4m per unit.
The “green” paper padding: 100% recycled!
Both Fillpak TT and Fillpak TT Cutter use single-layer paper, available in two grades. One paper pallet provides up to 72 m³ of fill capacity and can easily replace air pillows, foam pads and spacers. For something new, you can also opt for our Greenline paper made from 100% recycled materials and an environmentally friendly alternative to the classic brown paper. Note that the Greenline paper is greyer than other types of paper due to the recycled fibres.
Amazingly effective and environmentally friendly: with just one paper pallet you can get up to 72 cubic metres of paper padding!
Do you prefer fully automatic paper cushioning?
Fully automatic machines for large quantities, such as the PadPak Senior, are perfect for advanced packaging processes because it allows a continuous flow of paper. The paper length can be programmed in advance, so you are sure to always get the right fill quantity.
Purchase, rental and maintenance of a packaging machine
Buying a packaging machine can be a big investment. For small and medium-sized companies, it is therefore not always easy to argue for such a purchase. That’s why you can rent many of our packaging machines. No big expense – and you have the opportunity to test the machine before deciding whether or not to rent it. So you can focus on integrating the machine into your packaging process without worrying about a long-term financial commitment. The price includes free shipping, installation and maintenance instructions.
