Donation handover of the action programme “Perspectives for Women

4min read 20/03/2017
We celebrated a premiere on Thursday at Rajapack GmbH in Ettlingen in fantastic spring weather. The first part of our donation programme “Perspectives for Women” has ended and the result is overwhelming: we were able to hand over € 45,000 in donations to the three organisations. We are happy about this great success.
During a 2-hour event on Thursday, about 50 invited guests were able to learn directly from the representatives which projects will benefit from the respective donations of 15,000 €.

Horizont e.V.

Spendenübergabe HorizontHorizont e. V., an association founded by actress Jutta Speidel from Munich, cares for homeless women and their children. In their own Horizont House, the families find a temporary home and receive intensive support so that they can take their lives into their own hands again. The socio-pedagogical director of the Horizon House, Carina Twardon, presented the work of the entire Horizon team. RAJA’s donation will make it possible to finance a family coach. Mathilda Legitimus-Schleicher, who works as a family coach at Horizont, then gave a concrete account of her experiences. Often, her work first consists of finding out why some of the women do not want to or cannot open up. This can have very different causes, from health problems to traumatic experiences that have not been dealt with. Often, this is also the cause of problems in dealing with the children. The family coach systematically works out the problems and shows the mothers new ways and possibilities of bringing up their children.

Papatya

Spendenübergabe PapatyaMs Kaiser from Papatya in Berlin also gave an insight into her work. Papatya is an anonymous crisis facility for young girls and women with a migration background in Berlin. The girls who come to papatya are mostly confronted with extreme family conflicts, such as being banned from school and going out, but also abuse, up to the threat of being deported to their home country or forced marriage. At papatya they find the necessary peace and support for their future life planning.

The money from RAJA goes to the online counselling service SIBEL. Affected girls and women from all over Germany and abroad have the opportunity to contact papatya anonymously online and find help. No matter where they are, no matter what time it is. For girls who have already been trafficked to other countries or have already been forced into marriage, this is often the only way to get help and to draw attention to themselves.

VbFF – Association for the Professional Advancement of Women e.V.

Scheckübergabe vbffFinally, the VbFF – Verein zur beruflichen Förderung von Frauen e.V. from Frankfurt presented itself. The managing director Kerstin Einecke and the head of public relations Timnit Ghirmai reported from practice. The VbFF e.V. is committed to equal opportunities for women on the labour market and does basic conceptual work for this. It follows a holistic approach that takes into account the different life plans of women and the context in which they live. The focus is on counselling, vocational preparation, training and support for re-entry. RAJA’s donations support several projects. For example, language development courses to prepare for training, but also dance or theatre workshops, voice and speech training and communication workshops to build self-confidence. In this way, the women learn to present themselves and to speak freely, an important basic requirement for their future professional life.

The programme continues

And at the end, there was also a little surprise for our long-time local partner. The Ettlinger Frauen und Familientreff, effeff for short, was happy to receive a small donation of 500 € for the necessary purchases for childcare.

The guests were impressed by the work of the individual projects and even after the end of the official events, there was still intensive discussion with the representatives of the organisations over snacks and drinks. A successful evening all round.

And the “Perspectives for Women” programme continues! We continue to donate 1 € per sold packaging unit of selected products to Horizont, papatya and VbFF.
