[DE] Packaging protection for designer lights from Nyta: a success story

RAJA is talking to Nyta, a young German lighting brand with an award-winning lighting collection. May, Pi, Tau, Tilt, Pong and Pretty bring light into the darkness, and do so in style. We conduct our interview with Johannes Müller, Managing Director at Nyta.

About Nyta

Nyta is an up-and-coming German lighting brand and luminaire manufacturer based in Karlsruhe. The company was founded in 2012 by two talented designers, both graduates of the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design (HfG). Nyta is characterised by its luminaires, which are designed and developed in Karlsruhe and whose individual parts come from various European suppliers. Final assembly takes place in the company’s own warehouse in Karlsruhe before the finished lights are sold via a global network of distributors. The stylish lights find their way to customers both online and via bricks-and-mortar retailers. Nyta’s lighting collection comprises several different families in various versions and designs, which have already been honoured with numerous national and international design awards.

The challenge: protecting the lights during shipping

Shipping sensitive and high-quality luminaires presents Nyta with special challenges. The lights come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes and are made of sensitive materials such as polished brass, stainless steel and coated aluminium. Flexible and reliable packaging protection is essential to ensure that the products reach the customer undamaged.

The solution: collaboration with RAJA

Since its foundation in 2012, Nyta has worked closely with RAJA to source the optimum packaging and shipping materials. Nyta ships an average of 40 parcels and several pallets per week. Johannes Müller, Managing Director of Nyta, emphasises the importance of the consistently high quality of RAJA products: “We particularly appreciate the consistently high quality from RAJA.”

Flexible packaging solutions for sensitive lights

To protect the delicate surfaces and materials of the lights, Nyta relies on a combination of different packaging solutions from RAJA. Lampshades are packed in flat bags, while sensitive parts are additionally wrapped in bubble wrap and positioned in product boxes. The bubble wrap from Rajapack offers reliable protection against breakage and scratches as well as dust and dirt. “The flexible use of products such as the bubble wrap from Rajapack helps us to pack the wall, floor and pendant lights quickly and securely,” explains Müller.

Styrofoam corners and crumpled paper from RAJA are also used. These materials cushion and protect the lights between the product and shipping packaging and prevent them from slipping in the shipping carton. They offer reliable protection against knocks and ensure that the lights arrive safely and undamaged at the customer’s premises.

Johannes Müller emphasises the central role of packaging protection for customer satisfaction: “Protective packaging is crucial for our sensitive and high-quality luminaires, because our customers naturally expect the luminaires to arrive in perfect condition. Good product protection during shipping is therefore crucial for the satisfaction of our customers.”
