Bonnet shrinking machine – Shrinking and welding in one pass

3min read 12/01/2019
In everyday working life, there are undoubtedly situations in which things have to be done quickly. It’s good to be able to rely on the support of machines and packaging systems! In film processing, for example, a sure instinct is sometimes required. A lot can go wrong. Not so with the right equipment! Once you have found the equipment that meets your needs, welding or shrinking film can be quite easy. Even better, if you have a machine that can do both!

With professional bonnet shrink machines, shrinking products into film is child’s play. Depending on the requirements, you can choose between “welding only”, “welding and shrinking” and “delayed shrinking”, including the corresponding duration and temperature. The compact devices can be perfectly integrated into a workstation or can be used flexibly in your company thanks to a base frame with castors.

What can bonnet shrink machines do?

The manually operated bonnet shrink machine is the ideal machine for flexible applications. Up to 6 work sequences can be individually stored. The support grid is manually height-adjustable and can thus be easily and quickly adapted to the dimensions of the respective product. The insert table can also be moved without much effort. This ensures a uniform process flow and consistently high quality.

Bonnet shrink machines are available either as tabletop models or with a mobile base with a parking brake. Operation via the digital control panel is extremely simple and offers both manual and magnetic control, i.e. the bonnet can be released immediately after closing and opens automatically when the shrinking process is complete. This saves time, because the next product can already be prepared during the short break.

600 packs an hour with the bonnet shrinker

With the bonnet shrink machine with automatic outfeed conveyor, the whole thing goes even faster: it manages up to 600 packages per hour! This machine works particularly efficiently due to the product discharge with automatically driven, height-adjustable conveyor belt. This means that the shrink-wrapped products can be finished directly into a box or carton for transport.

Application examples Shrinking and welding

There are many possible applications for this shrink and weld tool.

  • The polyolefin film first of all offers protection against dust and dirt during storage and transport of the products.
  • At the same time, the film is characterised by a high gloss and enhances the value of the products packaged in this way.
  • A common example from everyday life is the shrinking and shrink-wrapping of DVDs, Blu-rays or software. Here, the packaging fulfils an additional function as theft protection, as the contents of the packaging can only be accessed by forcibly tearing open the film.
  • Due to the high stability of the shrink film, the device can also be used for bundling products. As can be seen in the video, thick printed materials such as catalogues and brochures can be bundled and attractively packaged with ease.

Shrinking and welding is also used in the food industry and gastronomy.

  • In contrast to vacuum packaging, the contents are not sealed airtight during shrink wrapping. Air is exchanged through tiny holes in the film. This prevents the formation of condensation and the packaged food stays fresh longer . In bakeries and confectioneries, this process is therefore used to package baked goods such as cakes or stollen in an appetising and attractive way.
  • For sandwiches and other snacks “on the go”, the customer will also be grateful if his meal does not fall apart and he can easily carry it in his pocket. This means that nothing stands in the way of enjoyment-to-go.
