To do this, he/she supervises supplies, manages stocks and optimises storage space. He/she plays a role in relations with transporters, in particular to resolve any disputes. He/she supervises all outgoing flows, right up to receipt by the end customer.

They may also be crane operators, who drive heavy lifting equipment. They have specific training in driving motorised and lifting equipment.

A specialised handler earns an average of26,000 euros gross per year. He or she can progress to the position ofteam leader or warehouse manager. As there are many opportunities for advancement in the logistics sector, specific training courses can enable him/her to access different positions.

The profession of handler is accessible without any particular diploma. However, for a specialised handler, it is recommended to obtain a certificate of aptitude for safe driving (CACES).

What skills are required to be a specialist handler?

Many tasks are nowadays mechanised. However, a specialised handler must in particular :

  • Master the techniques of packing, slinging and packaging
  • Have some knowledge of computers
  • Know how to handle tools such as clamps, jibs, spurs, etc.
