Tips til forsendelse af plakater

4min read 14/12/2021

Send your posters safely, conveniently and with a great finish!

As you probably know, Post Nord has introduced a fee of DKK 30 per package if you use round poster tubes – and at the same time GLS is also raising their fee to DKK 30. They are doing this for the simple reason that the poster tubes are rolling around on their parcel conveyors and require special/extra handling. You can avoid the fee by using other clever forms of packaging.

We will start by introducing the different forms of packaging and finish with some tips for the interior finish. Have fun!

Poster boxes | smart alternatives for your posters

You can get both triangular and square boxes/tubes as alternatives to the round poster tube. The main thing is just that the packaging has a flat side and doesn’t lie around.

Triangular mailing tubes/boxes:

Triangular tubes are smart. They stack easily, take up to 70% less space in the warehouse compared to standard round cardboard tubes and end up with 3 layers of corrugated cardboard at each end when assembled. This version is easily assembled using the self-adhesive flaps and has the added security of a locking tab at one end.

Square shipping tubes / shipping boxes:

A classic is to choose a square version of the cardboard tube. Vers. 1 below is a heavy-duty version suitable for printed matter and posters. It is easily assembled using the self-adhesive flaps at each end.

Verse 1 | Quattropac:

Verse 2 | Square tubes with automatic bottom:

This tube below, is as such an oblong box with automat bottom – a completely secure bottom that is assembled in a jiffy. The top is closed with ordinary packing tape and folded it protects your posters, with up to 4 layers of corrugated cardboard.

If you’ve got three pallets ofround poster tubes in the warehouse and can’t be bothered with the fees – there’s also this trick that turns your round poster tube into a “square” package when applied.

Interior finishing tips:

TIP 1 | Wrap your poster in cling film :

Pipe wrap, also known as poster film, comes in many sizes. A clear film that helps protect your prints and posters from dirt, grease fingers and grit scratching. The tubular film is easy to handle and can be integrated on your packing table, possibly together with a bag sealer, or other kind of gadgets. Buy the pipe wrap / poster film here.

TIP 2 | Protect and decorate your poster with tissue paper :

Tissue paper is a very fine piece of paper that comes in all sorts of colours and won’t stain if it gets wet. It is most often used around flower bouquets or in gift boxes and can give the product a soft and delicate finish. Roll the poster up with the tissue paper and tuck the paper into each end of the poster, finishing with a fine label if desired.

Beautiful design posters deserve a beautiful wrapping and the tissue paper and specially designed labels offer plenty of opportunity to express your creativity. You can still use a clear film and simply use the tissue paper as a belt around the poster with a nice label – the possibilities are endless. Buy tissue paper hereInfo on custom labels here.

TIP 3 | Use a rubber band to hold the shape:

An easy and quick solution to get around your poster and retain it is the elastic/rubber band. Be careful not to make it too tight, it should not damage the edges or make other marks. A rubber band is easy and quick to remove as well as quick to apply for the recipient if they wish to return. Buy rubber bands here.
