By introducing some new approaches to packing and packaging in the warehouse, you can hopefully start packing smarter and better. In this post, we’ll look at 3 tips for choosing packaging that can help create a better warehouse workflow or customer experience. Read on for some ideas for improvements that are right for your business or brand. See all our packaging to help you pack better.
1. Save time

You always hear the expression ‘Time is money’. Well, there’s something to that. Time is of great importance to many businesses. This can be the case, for example, in e-commerce warehouses, where parcels need to be packed and dispatched to customers quickly. Many webshops now have day-to-day delivery. Therefore, it is also necessary to streamline the parcel process. One important element in this process is the choice of packaging. At RAJA, we offer a range of products that can help you save time in the warehouse.
One of the most popular examples is cardboard boxes with automatic bottom. What makes these special is that the boxes are easily assembled by a light press on the sides. The assembled bottom does not require extra packing tape. The boxes are rated to assemble in 9 seconds. A standard cardboard box takes approximately 22 seconds to assemble. These few seconds can make a big difference in the packing process in a warehouse where many hundreds of boxes are assembled per day. A calculation: If a warehouse worker packs 250 boxes a day, up to a full hour of work is saved.
Other good examples are packaging with self-adhesive closures. Within this category there are shipping bags, cardboard boxes and cartons. When you use this type of packaging, you don’t waste time closing with separate packing tape, as it is already equipped with a built-in closure.
A final example of packaging that helps save time is parcel filling with perforation. This includes both bubble wrap and foam wrap. When you choose packaging with perforation, you eliminate the need for tools, among other things. You just tear. For example, if you choose bubble wrap with perforation, you can achieve a time saving of 25% compared to a standard roll of bubble wrap.
2. Environmentally friendly packaging

Packing in an environmentally friendly way can be a big advantage for several reasons. Firstly, there is a high demand for companies to go green. Therefore, it can be a deciding factor for a customer choosing your products over others. In addition, of course, it is not only an advantage for your brand. It’s an equal benefit for the environment.
One of the eco-friendly trends we’ve noticed at RAJA is a shift from plastic packaging to paper packaging. A great example of a paper alternative is our paper shipping bags. They are made from 30% recycled paper. The paper is in 125 g/m² PEFC certified 1-ply brown kraft paper. A few good alternatives to standard parcel tape are adhesive tape and paper tape. They each have their advantages and are both made from paper. For example, if you want to know more about adhesive tape, read this blog post.
Another trend in eco-friendly packaging is packaging made from recycled plastics. This is a type of packaging we have several different examples of. These include eco-friendly stretch film, which is made from 80% recycled materials. We also have environmentally friendly bubble wrap. Like stretch film, it is made from 80% recycled material, and both are easy to recognise through their distinct green colour, which helps to symbolise their environmentally friendly properties. If you want an eco-friendly mailing bag but still want to opt for plastic, check out our eco-friendly mailing bags made from 100% recycled materials.

3. Think about the customer experience

Offering great products is obviously one of the most important elements for many businesses. At the same time, if you want to stand out even more, you can think about the customer experience. It doesn’t end with the purchase of the product. It continues just as much when the customer receives the product. This is where packaging can play a major role. Packaging can add great value to your brand.
Packaging that can contribute to a different customer experience are cardboard boxes and boxes with a white exterior. They stand out a little from the crowd of classic brown cardboard boxes. The white colour helps to add an elegant look to your product. The elegant exterior also makes the boxes suitable as gift boxes. An example of this type of packaging is the Flat White Post Box.
Another way to make your packaging stand out is by using elements from gift packaging. A good example of this could be the use of coloured tissue paper, as this can be a small detail that adds a more personal touch. Tissue paper also works well as a parcel filler and has protective properties against delicate surfaces. The wide range of colours also gives you plenty of opportunity to put your own stamp on the product wrapping.
A completely different way of providing a good customer experience could also be through return packaging. Here, it’s not the look that matters. Instead, the focus here is on making a return easy for the customer. Of course, you don’t go for getting the product back from the customer, but that kind of thing can still happen. That’s why we advise the use of shipping bags with return seals if you’re dealing with clothes or other textiles, for example.
