Hobby knives, work knives, safety knives, industrial knives – the dear child has many names and can be used for many different purposes and just as many different knives exist.
In this post we will elaborate and classify the knives in our range as we have got brand new knives this September, 2021. You will be able to download a white paper here in the post with all the classifications and specifications of the knives – so you are able to choose the right knife to suit your needs, you will also be able to read in depth here in the post about the different features before you make your choice.

A knife is not just a knife…
A knife is not just a knife, a knife must fit the work you do and it is important for your safety and well-being that it fits.
For example, you may be standing in a packing line continuously cutting and cutting and at the same time your cutting requires a certain precision and power. Here you would need a sturdy knife, one that sits well in your hand and doesn’t slip and can take some weight. If the knife does not possess these qualities, you could get wear marks, sore arm/hand, spend unnecessary time and maybe the knife would break or slip out of your hands and challenge safety.
Another example could be that you only need a knife “once in a while”, maybe for a package in the office or out in the copy room, in other words, a knife for only the small cutting tasks. Here, an affordable knife without the frills is just fine, and there’s no need to spend a lot of money on a sturdy and ergonomic knife.
Plastic or metal:
If a knife has a plastic frame, it’s not as sturdy as one with a metal frame or guide. If you are doing intensive work, it is worth choosing a knife either with a metal frame or with a metal guide rail and a soft grip/rubber handle. If you just need a knife for everyday use, a simple plastic knife will do.

9 mm or 18 mm blade:
Our range consists of knives with 9 or 18 mm blades. A 9 mm blade breaks more easily than an 18 mm blade, but can have greater precision and be more manageable if you’re doing quiet precision work that doesn’t require a lot of weight. However, if your cuts require a certain amount of weight when cutting (e.g. if you are cutting stretch film or in double corrugated), an 18 mm. blade is more suitable as it does not break as easily and can withstand a higher pressure.

Locking systems and safety blades:
Manual locking system: all our knives come with a locking system. Most knives have a manual locking system, where you pull down on the feed bar to lock the knife at the desired length.
Set screw: In addition, we also have a safety knife with set screw, this mechanism is most often used on knives suitable for intensive and continuous work, as you set the knife and thus it is fixed in the desired length until you reset it. It is not a function that should be used if the knife is to be carried in the pocket, it is more suitable for knives that are to be fixed to a packing station or line.

Automatic retraction (safety knives): Automatic retraction is used specifically for safety knives. Safety knives are suitable for carrying in a pocket. The knife will always retract after use and is therefore safe to carry in your pocket as the blade is never left out. When you need to use the knife, you push the blade forward and when you release it again, it slides back all by itself. This function is not suitable for continuous cutting but rather for quick cuts and simple cutting tasks.

Foil cutter:

If you specifically always cut strap tape, foil or stretch film, then a specific foil cutter will be your best friend. It’s completely safe as the blade is completely hidden and cuts both strap-band, general band, stretch film and foil easily, quickly and simply.
