4min read 01/07/2020

Utility knives, hobby knives and safety knives can be used for many different purposes. For example, they are great for use in the warehouse, where they can be used to open boxes, cut foil, tape, etc. In this post, we will compare some of the different variants in our range, so you can get guidance on choosing the perfect knife. Once you have the right knife, it makes your workflow much easier.

Safety should be in order when it comes to work knives. Below, we’ve put together a chart that shows the safety level of different types of utility knives from level 1 to level 4.

Four types of work knives, so there’s a knife for every need

> Hobby knives

The first type of knife we look at is the hobby knife, which we describe as a knife where there are grooves so that the blade can be snapped off as soon as it gets a little dull. That way you always have a perfectly sharp knife.

With this type of knife, you have to manually push the blade in and out so that it does not become a safety hazard when the blade is constantly pushed out. Also be careful not to push the blade too far out when cutting, as this can cause the blade to break.

As soon as you cut, you have to release the sheath. When the knife is no longer in contact with the material you are cutting, the blade automatically retracts.

Because of the automatic retraction, the safety of using the knife is greatly increased. Therefore, the likelihood of injury is also reduced.
